CPU question

Thread Starter
I just got a new Asus H87 mobo and im just looking to get a solid cpu for a few months till i can get a i7 monster. im considering getting a Intel Core i3-4130 3.4 3 FCLGA 1150 to go with my MSI 760gtx and 18 gigs of ddr3. Im going to be playing BF4 on it as well as some other games and things for work.. My initial thoought is that this setup would not cause any bottleneck issues and should be great to get me through till the first of the year or so. Looking for any feedback and ideas. Thanks

To me bottleneck is a strong word. It means a very improper setup where a component is bored to death waiting for another component to work faster. I doubt you'll see 50% GPU utilization if you're running that processor. Unless you're running some very CPU bound games.

So my opinion:

If that's your plan, I wouldn't expect any serious issues. You should be clear for the year until you upgrade.

18 gigs? What kind of RAM are you using?

Oh and your CPU and GPU will not bottle neck each other, just remember you cant overclock your CPU.

Overall though, as stated above: your system should be fine for 2 years, I have a 3570k + a 660ti, still running it to this date, dont plan on upgrading till Q2-Q3 next year.
