Yet it offers the cheapest quad-core solution to date. Nobody said the platform is retricted to FX only, you can throw a couple cheap Opterons on it.

This is still AMD and their fanboys trying to cling onto as much as possible to prevent people from jumping over to intel permanently for their cheaper, faster, and better Core 2 architecture. And Quad FX improves AMD's performance, but still can't beat all the chips using the Core 2 architecture. But K8 is still a great processor, and for anyone who isn't going to buy a Conroe but wants a new processor, K8 is obviously better than Netburst.

Nobody's trying to prevent anybody from going C2D if the person doesn't already have an AMD board. Hell even I recommend C2D for people who want new builds, and I'd only recommend AMD for new build if their budget doesn't allow. Just because we have AMDs doesn't mean we're all fanboys, which is what you seem to infer.

Like who cares? It is amazingly useless to compare an old architecture fairly with a new one.

And beat a stock X6800 by a hair, only if you get a good stepping though.
