OMG - I can't believe how much of a fanboy you are. It's an incredibly better part for not much more and you're still just advocating for AMD. If you aren't willing to spend the money for the extra performance why OC at all? If you just want cost effectiveness and to save that $50 then buy the conroe and keep the stock cooler on it. I bet most of us here spend more than $50 on a HSF. You will get much more performance with stock conroe vs OC'ed 3800+. I know for a fact that you don't support the position that you're presenting here - you're only advancing it so you can blindly support AMD. That's kinda the definition of an idiot fanboy

Wait, so im not supporting the position im presenting?? How so? Because I do. I'd much rather get a 3800+ and a 7900GTX over a faster processor.

And BTW, im not even overclocked at all.

But I think you missed this post..

Now, why am I such a fanboy if Intel had the E4300 out at the time of my purchase, I would have bought it, as opposed to the 3800X2?

Its simple guys, people are afraid of change, and Core2Duo is a HUEG change. It shattered my little AMD-till-I-die world. However this opty should last me until AMD is back on top XDDDD

Well if you aren't going to OC at all there are tons of places to get that extra $50 from. Get a crappy mobo - ditch the XMS and get some value RAM. A stock HSF, value RAM and a budget mobo will more than make up for the extra money to get a Conroe.

Anyway - if you don't think it's worth it to spend extra money (usually a lot more than $50 extra bux) to get the kind of performance gain that you get with C2D vs X2, *** are you doing on this site? I really don't believe that you believe what you're saying

**EDIT**
Oh - and no I did not see that post. I had the page up and I left my compy for a while - I didn't know that the thread had progressed that much

I got the XMS for $75, and at the time of purchase I was planning on overclocking, thus why I also kept my XP-120.

Edit: lol im not saying that the AMD is better, im just saying the AMD will get the job done perfectly fine, and that nothing is progressing so fast that a Core2 is "necessary" which seems to be the general consensus.

Oh $50 is going to make the difference between a 7600GT and a 7900GTX?

You're right. The speed of the C2D isn't necessary. Neither is playing games at max settings. What's your point?

No, im saying i'd rather get a 3800X2 over a "high end" or a "higher end" processor. Like a E6700 or a 5200+.

It will take more $30 to bump you up from a 7600gt to a 7900gtx there babbs.

And I already posted about that. In the case of the 7600GT, then a 7900GS.
