Supercapacitor, interesting.

They charge extremely fast and may last for hours, depending on the case.

They need some protections to not blow up something during charging (the energy transfer is immense) but also to avoid discharging them fast (also explosive discharge normally).

edit: Think of the old photography flashes, that's how fast they charge and mainly discharge (under common cases).

It's a supercap, its ESR should be several tens if not hundreds ohms though. Unless really large, their applications are still limited.

Still, very interesting nonetheless. I for one welcome storing energy in other forms than a redox.
