TT120 broken screws?

Thread Starter
I was installing my new TT120 on my e6600, tightening the thumbscrews in a diagonal fasion, when all of the sudden the top of a screw pops off. I was tightening the screw when the top popped off, and it wasn't in very tight yet, it was still easy to twist.

The screw has a separate top and bottom so with some crazy glue i was able to put it back together and screw it in enough to hold the heatsink in place slighty.
But it isn't good enough, at stock settings core temp says both my cores idle at 37c in windows, which seems high to me. But ASUS PC probe sais 24 and in the bios it says 24. Also i used AS5

How tight do u tighten these screws? Now i'm afraid of breaking any more screws.

I emailed the company about replacement and how tight to twist them, but i'm looking for some additional feedback. Thx.

The same thing happened to be and now I'm running with 3 screws, but the temps aren't too good. Did you really get a reply from Tuniq? I emailed them, but I got no response back.

I emailed sales@tuniq.com.tw on like friday, and haven't gotten a response back yet, i will assume that since it is new years eve, and saturday and sunday aren't general work days, that they don't check during non workdays. So i'll wait till Monday - Tuesday.

I guarantee that i will get a response, I'm gonna badger the crap out of them, because this is seriously not right, all the hype about the TT120, and then bam, busted screw.

So what are your idle / load temps? Are u OC'ed at all? I actually am, the krazy glue i used allowed me to use 4 screws, although they aren't tight enough : [

Return it to the store where you bought it from. That's what I'd do.

Or you can call the CS and tell them what happened and maybe they'll send you the screw along. If necessary, take pics and send them to them.

you will be fine, just monitor your temps. or set your case on its side so the weight of the TT120 will be on the cpu and not off a bit. Either that or just superglue the thing and be done with it.

Seriously!?!?! I cant believe this!! This is like the 10th person I've seen this happen to. My Tuniq is from about a year ago and my bolts are solid brass (or so it seems). Do your bolts seem heavy duty? Mine do. Maybe they've changed the type...

My Tuniq also came with extra bolts and springs. Just find the right size at the hardware store and hardmount it with the springs. It may not look as pretty but it still works.

It happened to me as well. So what I did was I tapped one of the holes of the base that comes with the Tuniq so that one of the slightly larger diameter extra screws it came with for the other metal bases could be used in place.
