hi all.

this is a little out there for the server category, but as the people that lurk here will more than likely know the answer, this is the best place to ask.

i have a backblaze pod, and it uses 3 PCIE-1X cards to talk to 9 sata port multipliers. this worked ok for a while, but now it has come that i need more speed from my server.

this is a home server, serving media etc... to phones, tablets, HTPC, tv, BD etc... aswell as running a usenet index (hopefully soon) and usenet downloaders (sab etc... all python based)

now, my system is only getting around 30ish mb/s (both reads and writes) and i want more speed, as i had more when my drives were configured as individual. i know that there wil be a bit of a speed loss due to the sata 2 backplanes, but would like to get it as fast as it possibly can be for what it is.

my system uses windows 7 and i use flexraid for the softraiding of my drives. as they were all full before i started. so i need it to stay as win 7 (for ease of use and its also my gaming pc) and flexraid as i paid good money for the licence and i dont want to do hardware raid, as i cant add drives as i need them.

im looking at using the asrock x79 extreme 9 2011 mobo. as from what i can gather the x79 chipset supports port multiplers. and it also has 12 sata ports (BONUS, will allow for a couple of ssd's aswell)

the chipset on my multipliers is the SIL3726 chipset.

so, suggestions??

cheers

Jason
