@RAFFY

You could get away with 1x 60mmx50mmx1mm and 2x 60mmx50mmx0.5mm but not 1 of each. Myself would go 2 of each. Memory chips are 12mmx10mm iirc which is 25 chips covered by each sheet and since you 48 chips covered 2sheets is fine.

Very happy with undervolting results of my R9 290(X). Minimum core voltage in AB (0.98V according to the GPU-Z?) is stable* on 950/1250 clocks. Temperature maxed out at 83c @ 45% fan speed in Metro.

*30 minutes of Heaven and 3 runs of Metro benchmark. 1300 memory (from the screenshot) was unstable in Windows (artefacts-lines) and in Metro. Battlefield 4 might further reduce clocks (not much if at all I guess)

Just a warning. I would uncheck that apply OC at startup. If you come across a very unstable OC where you can't even get into the desktop before crashing you are going to find yourself in a loop of death. Causing major headaches. Just a simple warning.

Exactly what happened to me after trying 1400 memory clock @ minimum voltage. Black screen, same thing after booting. Then some windows-loading errors. Solved it after 3 reboots by deleting the MSI AB process quickly and changing the profile manually to a lower memory clock

when in idle, the pcie speed goes down. atleast in gpu-z. hit the benchmark there and it will go up. funny tho, if you'd hit that question mark there, I wouldn;t have to reply here ;]

Hey guys,
Is it okay to tri-fire 2x ASUS and 1x Sapphire 290x's and expect good OC cooperation between them?
2x ASUS ones are on their way to me and one left on stock on the local store is a Sapphire one that's why.
TIA.
post #10427 of 43916
Brand has nothing to do with it. Only thing that matters is model. So yes, it will work wink.gif

There shouldn't be any problem, especially since they are pretty much the same reference card regardless of the manufacturer.

On another note, I ordered the XFX R9 290 from Tigerdirect, and it's now back-ordered (I got lucky and was able to order it right before the listing disappeared). It says 7-21 days shipping or something along those lines. I wonder how long it actually takes if someone has had experience with this already.

I've tried undervolting too and at first it looked fine (could loop Heaven for ages, cruise around in Sleeping Dogs etc.). Only when I tried 3DMark I started to have problems. No crashes or anything, but it black screened a couple of times right after a test scene started after the loading screen. Mind you, my card has never black screened on stock or overclocked. I came to the conclusion that undervolting (which seems to affect every power state, not just the max clock state) doesn't play nice with the changing power states of which the 3DMark is a fine example. When you have a constant load keeping the clocks at full tilt, then no problem. Once the game or benchmark puts the card under varying load, it might be more problematic.
