I'm thinking of giving my 2nd 290X to my gf, ill be setting it up to mine when idle - @900/1500 default voltages. Wondering if her Corsair TX550M can handle it.

She has an i5 3570k@4.3Ghz, an antec 620...one HDD.

I'm thinking itll be close...probably 450W if she decides to game doubt her CPU will 100% and probably ~400W during mining only and a bit more during desktop work.

What do you guys think?

Because ASIC quality means nothing. AMD themselves said the registers that is reading are bogus.

ASIC "quality" is a misnomer propobated by GPU-z reading a register and not really knowing what it results in. It is even more meaningless with the binning mechanism of Hawaii.

I'm so tempted to get a r9-290 but the after market coolers need to come out already. I just can't deal with that noise. Whats the cheapest and easiest to install aftermarket cooler btw?

I wouldn't try it. I would say 650 or more to be safe.

Ive got a 290 on a 600W, no problems at all.

I fold my 290 @ 1050MHz 24/7, as well as my 3570K @ 4.7GHz. I have my power strip plugged into a Kill-A-Watt, on the power strip is two monitors, speakers, and a three CFL bulb floor lamp. (and my PC obviously) It reads 410w on full load. If I run something like 3Dmark Firestrike it will jump up to about 480w.

I use a Seasonic X-650 Gold.

410w for science!

I'm not sure if this has been discussed already, but i'm running into an issue with both Afterburner and GPU tweak.

I can create my profile and it applies it correctly upon booting into windows and everything is happy. Soon as the computer shuts off my monitors due to inactivity and I go to wake the screens back up, the voltage that is specified afterburner / gpu tweak does not get reapplied. However, my memory clock / core clock are still set correctly. Due to it not reapplying my voltage increase, i'm getting screen artifacts soon as my monitors come back on and I have to quickly apply my profile and things are ok again.

I'm using both the latest beta 9.5 drivers and latest version of afterburner and gpu tweak.

Anyone else experiencing this or know how to fix it?
