How good are the Amd 8350s with the r9 290s at stock, this monday my r9 290 should come into stock, not sure if i should keep my cpu at stock or risk overclocking it to like 4.7

At stock you will get a bottleneck and its also comes down to the game.

Is changing over to an intel i5 going to stop a bottleneck or do both platforms have to be overclocked?

Both will need to be OC'd to get good performance

Did a quick oc boost with the sabertooths onboard overclock from 4gh to 4.3gh and i received the same score with 3d mark 11 extreme presets with my 770gtx , yes i know its a nvidia card but its all i have thats better than my 5850 currently . Unless the 770 doesnt benefit from an overclocked cpu becuase of the way the clock works with power

The boost is more noticeable in a gaming situation where the CPU and GPU are stressed simultaneously. In 3DMark your physics and combined score increased correct?

Working on the gpu ( I have to work on the timings of the ram)
