What kind of trouble? Performance as in frames per second or the card overheating or downclocking or what. Not sure what you mean.

Also note in BF4 you will need to OC that 2500k a good bit more to keep up. It's very cpu intensive and the 2500k lags behind a bit compared to 2600k and other 4core/8thread and 8 core cpu's. Especially when pushing a 290

sorry my bad, i meant in FPS... the heat and noise is not a problem since im using the Gelid cooler
its just the frames per second, when i change from ultra to high in BF4 .. there is almost no difference in frames, maybe like 10 or less

How high can you OC that 2500k? Try to get that thing around 4.8ghz or higher biggrin.gif

Whats your temps like? Is it throttling? I have a Gelid ICY 2 as well and gpu temps are < 65C, and VRM temps are fine as long as i keep it under 1200mhz on the core, ive since replace the fans with high static 120mm fans and VRMs are even more in line.

Try upping power limit to 50% and see if youre temps are good and not throttling.

Do you notice that your cards speed is not going back down to idle in desktop mode? I had a virus that was basically a cryptcoin miner that hijacked my card, i was wondering why Bioshock 1 was only running at 90fps as opposed to 300fps.

Luckily it was only for an evening but look for something called ie8util.exe (i forget the actual name) running in the back ground

I asked a while back, but I will ask again. The memory clock on my 290 keeps going up and down continuously whatever I'm doing unless gaming it will stay at 1250.

This is what I mean:

Is this common?

12 fps difference at stock... 2500k vs 2600k

You need to OC that 2500k for sure.

Also note what was said above, make sure your card is not downclocking for whatever reason. thumb.gif

What do you mean by throttling?, if you want to know the temps, i can jump in battlefield and play for a while so i can see wath the highest temps are
