I have a Gelid Icy Vision on my R9 290. At stock, BF4 maxed out @ 1920x1200:

Core MAX 64°C
VRM1 MAX 65°C
VRM2 MAX 59°C

With FurMark:

Core MAX 73°C
VRM1 MAX 82°C
VRM2 MAX 62°C

Not bad for a £33 cooler. Admittedly I did have to sand the bottom of the VRM1 heatsink, and secure it with tiny cable ties. In a year or so when I need to overclock my 290s, I'll setup a custom loop. For now they chew through anything I throw at them.

Though if I could go back in time I would just wait for non-ref 290s, as the price would've ended up being roughly the same anyway.

The Gelid isn't as nice looking as the black MK-26, and they're similarly priced where I live. I want to know if the VRM heatsinks and memory heatsinks that come with it are enough (quantity and quality wise).
Yeah I thaugh so , i check tomorrow , but i think im gona takeout that pads and instead go with IC Diamond 7 , what you think ?

So yes it is normal to have a 20c variance between vrm's but in general your temps suck

Can You alsow tell me did Your temps are in 53 max VRM when Furmaking or Kombusting ? or in gameing cos that is totaly 2 difriend thing , wile gameing my VRM1 dont go over 60 and VRM2 dont reach 45 , alsow note that im NOT on thick 6cm rad but 3cm , and my cpu @5Ghz alsow increas overal temp in single loop temps , so pls can You ran Fur's or Kombustor and confirm it for me , thx alot in advance .

To be fair they're both quite ugly coolers. I would imagine performance-wise they're both the same.

According to the website you get 16x RAM sinks. If the black MK-26 is the same price as the Gelid, go for whicever one you like the look of the most I suppose.

In the UK the Gelid (£33) is almost half the price of the MK-26 (£56)

Okay, lol my vrm 1 hit 82c with furmark, xtreme-burn in test @ 1440p w/ 8x msaa wow furmark is crazy, yea in gaming my vrm1 is never over 60c.

What app are you using to monitor vrm temps? I'm using gpu-z 0.7.4

My vrm2 temp never goes over 35c in anything. Maybe it is reading it wrong?

After a lnog time of waiting i got my EK-block for my 290 , and after instalation im not sure is ment to be like that but my VRM temps are kinda wird , wile in stock GPU-z report VRM1 Temp 25C and VRM2 26C wich i think is low , under load especialy under Kombustor stres test VRM1 skyrocket to 78-80C its wobling around this , but VRM2 its around 60-63C , and thats all on stock clocks no OC , i wonder is it normal to get almost 20C difrience VRM1 vs VRM2 ?
To top it up yeah its not my first block actualy 3th and i check my thermalpads befor scruing block to pcb , i set it than pull back and sims like all pads where compresed so i set it jently back , and yes i dont mess them up i know finer are for VRAM and ficker for VRM , all the other temps GPU 29 in WinDSP droping to 28 in moments , and 52 max after an hour of Kombustor stressing , witch is not to bad on single loop with 2600k@5GHz and single TripleRad XSPC 3cm fick and XSPC combo res/pumb750l/h , so what u think try reset the block , or this temps on 290 are totaly fine in load , or maybe card to RMA , anyone ?

I want to note that im not native english person , so excuse me guys for my terrible grammary , and thx for help ;P

I have the EK block too, i did the thermal pad installation according to instructions, and I also have these temperature differences. When overclocked on load while mining, i would have 80C on on vrm 1

Edit: vrm 1

can you run furmark extreme burn in test with 8x msaa @ 1440p? Or even just 1080 If you don't have a 1440p monitor.

Idk how mining relates to furmark but i'd be curious to see what you get on it.

can you also run furmark on xtreme burn in ?

I put some of the EK thermal paste in between the vrm and the thermal pad like it said in the instructions. I'm wondering if it would have helped to put it in between the block and the thermal pad also?

It seems 80c vrm temps under mining/furmark are normal however. Makes me wonder if these things would explode on the reference cooler? Whats the max safe temp for these vrm's anyway ?
