GPUz and HWInfo are about the same for me:

I asked Unwinder. He said the numbers come from an IC register on the GPU itself.
HWinfo's +12v comes from a motherboard sensor. They do NOT read the same.

hwinfo says 12.025v for the psu/mb, while GPUZ says 11.75v for the gpu. (BOTH when fully idle).
Someone measured the 12v on the GPU with dmm, he said the real voltage was 0.06 (or 0.08 I don't remember) higher than gpuz

Seems to be a little bit more stable than asus gpu tweak, I can bench on 1270 on stock asus bios without crashing

My XFX R9 290(air) crashed after mining for 3 days. Everytime I turn on my PC I see white screens on the desktop and then it crashes when I open up 2-3 applications, (ie. Chrome and Firefox = crash)

Funny thing is, I am still able to mine as long as I use my iGPU for my monitors. Hashrate dropped by 60kH/s but besides that the card continues to mine like normal. Yet the monitor I hook up even one monitor I get white lines across that monitor and the whole thing crashes.

No modded firmware, using stock clocks.

Sounds like it could be corrupt drivers. Try to install in safe mode with DDU, sweep registry with CCleaner and reinstall drivers. Worked for me!

The first of the aftermarket hawaii cards are in stock: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125500

Massive price gouging going on, but at least we got something else other than reference cards.

No kidding... enough money there if you get your hands on a ref 290 for the original price of 399 to buy a block, back plate and put it under water, assuming you have a loop. Unless that is supposed to be the 290x and they made a mistake on the site...

Hopefully it is a mistake or that's pretty step

Also guys there's a guy on eBay selling 10+ PowerColor R9 290s for $440-$460 a pop if your looking.

Ugh.. they are still doing the $50 off of $500+ on Neweggbusiness.com and the ASUS 290x Reference is $599. You need a Tax-ID # to make an account though.

Promo code: XB2BYE201350

Looks like there is only 1 in stock.. Might have been a return.

I've been holding off on buying a GPU for the last few months. Waiting to see how Mantle might affect things, waiting for aftermarket coolers, etc.. I'm literally sitting in my Newegg cart with the above Asus card trying to decide to buy it or not.

I know a lot of people have gotten reference cards to watercool, but would it still be better to get an aftermarket card to watercool? I know it's probably not as necessary as the cooler will be better than the stock cooler. But won't the power delivery, chokes, vrm, etc be higher quality and possibly OC better?

There were over 10 in stock when I posted this thread, some people have more money than sense.

If the aftermarket versions use a much improved PCB, then they will be worth buying for watercooling it but then you run the risk of waterblocks not possibly being made for them.
