If the aftermarket versions use a much improved PCB, then they will be worth buying for watercooling it but then you run the risk of waterblocks not possibly being made for them.

I probably won't be doing a full loop. I have an Antec 620, richie's GPU Cool bracket, some Phobya thermal padding, enzotech Ramsinks.. I also have a brand new Artic Accelero Xtreme III in case the Antec doesn't work out..

I think I'll keep waiting and see what Mantle might bring.. or maybe I'll buy one tomorrow.. lol.. I can't make up my freakin' mind

thanks, I honestly did not think that would solve my issue. But one thing that is concerning me, is that I can no longer get my old overclocks. When I set the memory clock to 1500 i get an immediate crash. 14000 is the highest I've been able to set. Could the damaged on card have been prevented if I was on water? Or did it get damaged by me pushing it too hard.

From everything I read so far, memory overclocking has not been very effective in benchmarks or games and in some cases actually hurts it. So I don't know about you, but I would probably leave it at 1400.

Massive price gouging going on, but at least we got something else other than reference cards.

I hope thats not MSRP - newegg is being super lame about pricing but theyre making a killing a guess. Hopefully non-reference cooling will be +$50 more normally. Only Matrix/Lightning/HoF style cards deserve that kind of markup, if that

Do us all a favor and stop repeating that. Just because you get no gains with a memory OC doesn't mean its true for everyone or in all cases.

Fair enough, you actually have numbers to prove my statement false whereas the posts I was referring to were just words.

To be fair I'm curious to see what that 9% bump done to the gpu core would do....I would think it would be more than the 5.34% increase in scores. Then "not very effective" might be somewhat accurate.

I'd like to see some game testing also. I checked Metro:LL at 1350 and 1500 and it was 0.5 FPS different (or 1%).

Edit: Just checked Batman:AO at 1325 and 1455 (so 10% increase) and it was 3.8% faster.

well in mining I saw a 60Kh/s instease from overclocking from 1250 to 1500. My only worry is whether I have damaged the card. I'll be voiding the warranty to install a waterblock so I"m considering RMAing the card while I still have the chance. Only 3 days old after all. By the way, why does XFX advertise unlocked voltage on their site, yet on afterburner there is no such option. Do they have their own software?

It is unlocked voltage (they all are), and you can use Afterburner. You need Beta 15, and you may need to make a config file change, but it does work.
