Got it! Though it is a wimpy overclock, it is recognized in 3DMark 13 and there is a performance gain over stock, although small. I'm not going to push this card until I get my water block, then the games begin thumb.gif

my configuration is as follows intel i7 3930K 4.8 ghz, 16 gb ram kingston hyper x 2400MHz, Asus Rampage 4 Extreme, Corsair 1200w Gold Series, I'm trying the video cards in single TRIXX with the program, setting the following parameters gpu 1250 mhz 15000 mhz ram and the test is performed on the 3d mark 11 with a score of 16400, but once finished the test the video card in the graph GPUZ remains at 100 percent .. I do not understand why ... and are forced to restart, this happens to me with both. i hope for your help, thx.
The vga are liquid with the waterblock ek, sorry for my english.

I'm wondering to buy new R9 290, but one thing surprised me.
It is required 750W power supply.
http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1227&pid=2044&psn=&lid=1&leg=0#

I'm owning now Seasonic X-650 which is 650W.
My rig is i5-4670K OCed, 2x4GB RAM, 2x Caviar Black 2TB.

I have a chance to sell this PSU and to buy more powerful, probably will buy X-750.

But I have a question.
Do you think that my current PSU can handle with this card without any problems for the whole life of card?
Wouldn't want to risk anything...

Thanks.

Yes, a decent 650w (and yours is much better than decent) is more than enough. They overrate the PSU requirements because many people have chappy units that can't deliver anything like their rated power. My system draws just under 400W at the wall running BF4,for example.

No, actually you're wrong.
the offset is in hexadecimal and it adds the direct offset to the default core voltage, not the CURRENT set voltage..
so "10" is 16 in decimal.
Voltage is in 6.25mv steps, so 16x6.25=100 (100 mv).
So you use 10 to set 100 mv.

11 would be 106.25 mv. (17 (decimal) x 6.25=106.25
8 would be 50mv (8 x 6.25=50).

Setting "0" returns it back to the default VID with no offset.
And I just checked quickly in GPU-Z and using values over "10" in the command line (100 mv) DO work and apply. You can check because the idle voltage goes up.
I DO NOT think that afterburner's GUI will show more than 100 mv, as the sliders are locked to 100mv max.

Anybody on tri-fire eyefinity? I want to compare my BF4 ultra settings it seems to be pretty low. I only get 20+ fps on test range with ultra settings. My resolution is 5760x1200

Well good news everyone!

I talked again with the electrician, this time showing him the mosfets of 290/290X smile.gif

He said they keep their ideal performance even @100c+ and he also said they are high quality, and very good generally - he says that very rare, he wasn't so impressed by the inductors he rated them as average, and recommended to not exceed 60-70c on them for good performance. He works - repair, expensive gear, so for him to say for something that is high quality means alot biggrin.gif

So ye, anyone who plant to buy some non-reference cards, think really hard before you do it. He confirmed to me that, if some of this cards ain't oc well, there is no - or very very little chance this card VRM design is holding you back thumb.gif

For now, no card beats reference ones regarding vrm performance, maybe Lightning/Mars will do it, but not sure, the mosfets they are using are top notch, he was really surprised to see such linear performance even at very high temps - he didn't expected that at consumer grade products, iR - vrm's on this cards rocks!
