You would be surprised, they don't call this an open loop for nothing. I got a conductivity meter in my lab that tells me what the conductivity of the DI water I use is and it varies a lot from inside the DI source and just outside in a beaker.

So if you have no dust accumulation IN any of those components how does any noticeable level of dust get in to the loop? I'm not talking about a particle here or there.

I mean my loop probably has a black Labrador dog hair in it, 1 hair or a few dust particles isn't going to change the electrical conductivity of the entire loop.

Well its not a issue when its in the loop. Its only a issue when it is outside on your motherboard or GPU's. So what is your point, I don't think anyone really cares if its non conductive inside a closed loop.

Count on them being higher priced than aftermarket reference cooled 290X $699 at roughly $749 or higher depending on how over built non-reference designs are.

higher priced of course but the part i'm struggling with is if the 290x is really worth the extra.......it is but not....get what i mean? tongue.gif

Argh, i think i'll grab a couple of non-ref 290's then, best price/perf it seems.

Oh and i need a replacement card before the 11th Jan so hopefully they release them soon.

So quick snap of one of the 290x water blocks after my leak. Notice the water under the acrylic on the outside of the sealing gasket. Also, ill get another snap of it sideways but there is a gap that slowly starts from one side of the block to the other between the acrylic and the copper base.

Wierd, all 4 of my cards were pretty much dry, except the top two got a a little wet spot near the pcie and vrms on the topside(backside) of the pcb. However all of the water blocks were wet slightly as seen in the pic. I am perplexed at the moment what exactly i have here.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

maybe that water got there when the leak was spraying all over your system from somewhere else. if you got an air can atleast you can try to blow those out, then leak test them.
That's what I do first before I even install anything, leak test the components on their own on the tub overnight, if no leaks spring out that is caused by a faulty component and not just some un-fastened fitting then imma proceed on installing them onto my system.

Wonder if those GIGABYTE GV-R929XOC-4GD Radeon R9 290X 4GB cards are still prone to same black screen faults as random stock design cards and what memory manufacturer chips they use, whether its specific or just random like stock .

What i meant was, mantle is an extension and a new renderer to the Frostbite engine. So even tho bf4 is buggy, it has nothing to do with the game, it's a feature of the engine. All the stuff were having issues with bf4 is really down to numbers in config. Mantle is deeper on a different level. So in this way it has nothing to do with bf4, its being made for a few games right now, its just that bf4 is coming first.

As for the interview youre trying to quote, its prolly a piece from tomshardware interview with anderson back this one was back from end of october and posted in november. There anderson said its too early for performance numbers.
