Of course without ambient its hard to be certain your temps are normal, but 52c sounds fine.

My memory has already degraded a bit. I used to be able to mine @ 1500 with stock core volts, now it requires +12mV for it to not black screen.

I also have a universal block and passive memory.

Get some coolers on that RAM. I couldn't believe how hot they were passive. No way I'd run them that way long term. I've got 15x15x15mm aluminum sinks on them now. With a 120 fan blowing over the card they stay nice and cool now.

Hello guys, can you add me please Sapphire r9 290

Just wanna ask couple things, i try to flash asus 290 on my sapphire card, and its work. But couldnt unlock voltage in gpu tweak from asus. It doesnt appear in the setting.
And i try bios 290x asus as well (even thought it unlocked) it still doesnt show unlock voltage. what happen? do i miss something?

Cause my pc using watercooling, i try flashing PT1 bios , but it say doesnt match essd.so if i mess up with something?i using the latest asus bios at the moment

Currently my card run at 1200/1325 stable at 131 vddc. Temp at idle around 36 to 40 depend on my room temp. At max around 52 to 56.
And no matter how high my vddc (try 200 already), it cant go further that. Last attempt is 1235/1375 at 150 vddc. It stable only in benchmark and show artifact in game.

Sorry if im asking too much. Im new to oc my gpu

Thank you

Well by passive I mean..

8 of them have Enzotech Copper 14x14x14, 6 have some random aluminum 15x14x14, and 2 have some smaller 15x15x8 (height limit from tubing)

And I dont see a way to cool them unfortunately. With the 7950 and a universal block I used the dual fan assembly and just mounted it on. I dont have that anymore, heh.

Any ideas? Maybe a PCI fan? Very space limited in an FT02 :/

Guys I am running into a problem. Has anybody had a 290X or 290 that did not like +200 on the voltage? I just installed a complete XSPC water cooling setup. res+D5 pump, EX360 + EX240 + EK block on the 290X + raystorm on the 2600K. I am getting max gpu temps in the mid 40's and vrm temps in the 30's and 40's. My 290X will not run at +200 now with out major corruption even on stock clocks. I can go +100 and up to around 1120 stable but put the voltage at +200 and it is corruption city.

Could my pc&p silencer 750 not have enough power for everything now that I installed the water cooling and a uv cold cathode? I have tried 2 dvi dual link cables on my qnix 27" monitor and that did not help. I have a feeling this psu might be the culprit. What do you guys think? Also my scores for the clock speeds seem to be low.

Here is a video of what it is doing. Sometimes the screen goes funky and never returns and I have to hard reset.

750W should be plenty for overclocked CPU, single GPU & water cooling. PC&P is very good PSU too.

I get the same problem, even if I do 1200mhz w/ +50mv, basically if I push my volts or clock too high I get stuff similar to what was happening in your video. I basically have the same setup as you also cooling wise give or take a part.

My choice is to run 1100 core 1400 mem @ 110hz or run 1200 core/1400 mem @ 60hz.

That is 3 people now that have this issue with 290/x's and the qnix. Something funky is going on here. Are you running over 60hz on the monitor?

Well what can I say not much room between the cards LOL. It looks good though. I wonder how hot these bad boys will get? I probably should finally invest in water cooling but I have to wait and see if we build a new house or not.

Well I ran the new TriFire 290x setup with Firestrike Extreme and loved the results on stock settings. These cards are monsters for the price and I'm very happy with them. I had TriSli Titans and they were good as well but now after one benchmark I can see both sides of the coin. AMD get better FPS numbers but Nvidia do it a bit smoother. Basically thats the difference Ive seen after one benchmark LOL. Im sure this could all change after some proper gaming time.

I was surprised how hot the memory got on these; the RAM sinks get hot to the touch unless they have a fan on them. Passive cooling is a no go.

Congrats - I'll take your word for it. updated thumb.gif

Having the same issue as well, can run 1100 on the core but anything over that requires me to set my qnix to 60hz, usually run it at 96hz

I really want to know why we can't go higher than 1100 MHz with over 60 hz
