[Official] AMD R9 290X / 290 Owners Club - Page 1251

Good morning.
Is there anything to be concerned about with the weight of the XSPC waterblock? I didn't realize how heavy it is until I received it.(my first GPU water block).
Any chance of bending the card over time?
I'm guessing I might need to buy a backplate. Is this correct?
Thanks for your time.

Ya I would always have a backplate with any water block, just to be on the safe side.

Shouldn't a full cover block prevent bending?

Thanks for the quick reply geggeg.
Derp "I should have said damaged instead of bending. "

LOL I'm still using the 13.11 whql drivers. I have had no reason to use any betas or even switch to the 13.12 driver. blinksmiley.gif

I don't think so. I was planning on getting that block. Now I'm getting the EK R9 290x Acetal with backplate.

Hate to say it, mantle won't be here until 2014.

Temps are sweet with my Koolance block. Just think it would look nice with a backplate.

Horrible part is, after getting up early, breaking down 3770k setup and getting this together, I'm too tired to do any real overclocking. Definately need a nap.

I'm confused...did you swap out your XFX 290 for a SAPPHIRE 290X? IF so.....updated Snorkle.gif

If not PM I'll set the roster straight.
