I really wish I would've tested it on air first though. Just to know what others are enduring tongue.gif (I'd drained my loop the night before getting the card so I wouldn't lose any time, already had the water block waiting for a week or so).
i will let you know about that! im going to buy soon an x and an accelero x3. the only question.. approximatively, which is the average ASIC quality on 290x? now i have a 290 basic card with 68.1%(omg)and i have the signature frequencies without any problems.
Any "X" owner could explain me please? thank you so much!

Link for thermal pads description? sorry for my noobness biggrin.gif

Use the pads from the stock cooler for the vram and the pads included with the Accelero Xtreme III for the vrm's.

Thats what I did when I had my Sapphire 290x thumb.gif

EDIT: I'm guessing you already know that you need some more heatsinks than whats included with the Accelero III?

You will need some low profile ones due to clearance

i know but i don't really know where buy the last vrm heatsinks biggrin.gif if it's ok with the stock cooler pads sounds really good!redface.gif

It will work but re-using pads will increase temperatures for those parts. You can buy thermal pads from eBay, otherwise search for Fujipoly Thermal Pad in "local" internet computer stores.

Alright,
I should make a thread with a poll but people tend not to care about new threads so I'll ask here and hope that as many people as possible involved will answer.

@All water cooled R9 290 owners

If you're running your fans a bit fast you probably won't have noticed and won't be able to answer. If you would be willing just to turn them down to their lowest speed and launch a game that would be great. It won't take any more than a minute if even that much thumb.gif.

My card makes a terrible electrical interference / buzz or whatever sound when the card is under load. I just played some BF4 and noticed the sound changed a bit depending on which pre-sets or resolution I used (I had my case open, you may not be able to distinguish the sounds if yours is closed but it doesn't really matter anyway).
I'm thinking it could be the card or the PSU so here are mine:
- Sapphire R9 290 with Hynix Memory @1100/1300 no volt adjustments
- OCZ StealthXStream II 700W

It may also be related to CPU OC (just throwing a random guess out there, can't really find a link between both) so mine's an i7-860 @3800MHz with HT disabled.

I really hate that it makes that noise and it sort of ruins the purpose of quiet water cooling (if that's what you were going for which is my case) and would love to know if others are affected by it too.

Does your card make such a noise too ?

I had two 290Xs (one of them RMA-ed for another reason) - they both have moderate coil whine. You'll find it's more noticeable the higher the FPS is, especially in menus and such.

I don't really mind it since I never had an AMD card without it (5870, 2x6970 and now 290X). smile.gif

Hello next week I will buy R9-290 Saphire. so I will put it under water with this block http://www.alphacool.cz/produkt/EK_Water_Blocks_EK-FC_R9-290X_-_Plexi.html?arg1=01
So then I will let you know what about overclocking and if its unlockable by 290X bios. ;-)

I've noticed it on the vast majority of cards i've owned when i push past 60 fps and when I exit Heaven or Valley Benchmarking.
