It's just marketing and/or bad PSU. I still remember the days in an IT retailer when we ordered container of PSUs from one of the well known manufacturers and we were asked, clearly as it was perfectly normal, how much wattage should be written on the PSU sticker.

So as you said even 600W will run R9 series just fine, as long as its quality PSU.

Yes thats true, I thing 550W PSU will manage non OCed R9-290 absolutly without problems. But I like cold PSUs and bought mine Xilence 800W for 50$ so why not? wink.gifbiggrin.gif

1,2Ghz on stock Voltage?
Im 1,12Ghz on stock V so I hope more than 1,2Ghz will be possible
And what about memory? What was the maximum for Hynix? Ihope I can get around 1700Mhz:)rolleyes.gif

Reason why it was so cheap is because its so bad

Buy quality dont buy wattage you dont need

I run it at 1100/1350 (stock voltages) day to day, but it'll do 1250/1500 at +175mV (water cooled). Can't get much more than that on the memory though. I don't think you should expect 1250-1300 though unless you want to run a modded BIOS. 1200 seems to be about the normal high-end overclock on these.

Price is here 110€ for 700W and 140€ for 850W.
Not planning to do a Crossfire, but want to have it some years...
Those prices seem a little excessive. In Canada I've seen
XFX 850W Black Pro (Seasonic KM3) go for 114CAD
Lepa G850W go for 74CAD
EVGA 750B go for 29CAD
Corsair CX750 go for 50 CAD
Corsair AX1200 go for 199CAD

at the very least those are all the psus I've bought in the last couple of weeks. Canadian Power supplies will work even better in Europe than they do in America. Maybe importing would be cheaper?

Haven't seen anyone get over mid 1600s for memory. Hynix oc just a bit better.

I can get 1150MHz stock voltage. I could not do 1200MHz with +100mV.

Xilence is bad quality? Since when? original price was more than 100$ and have nice performance with great steady. Managed HD7950 and HD7970 in CF(both oced) with i5-2500K at 5.0 Ghz with no output of hotair.
