It's a powercolor... and I was too excited to wait to get a block for it so i'm just on stock cooling atm.

Soooo jacked omg.

Sweet gift indeed. Your welcome to join us with a submission post. smile.gif

No, lol. 1440p is 33% higher than 1080p, so 135% should be the same for 1440p. I tried doing 150% scaling on a 1440p, resulting in a 4K resolution, and with a single 290X i was @ about 30FPS, that is in line with other results..
Is that the way BF4 calculates it though? Because 1440p is 1.77x as many pixels as 1080p. Not sure what their slider is actually based on.
I'm playing @1080p + 200% resolution scale. I wonder whether this means I'm playing with the games is rendering @3840x2160 (2160p) or @2160x1920 (2 times as many pixels as 1080p = 4147200 pixels). I always thought it's the former; rendering the games at higher resolution & downsampling to 1080p.

-You need more voltage for that clock. Add 10 or so mv until they don't appear.
-Your chip has hit its max OC. There is a point where more voltage will not help.

Of course you should only increase your voltage if you have the thermal headroom. I'd say try and keep the core under 80c, and VRM's under 80c also. Too high temp on either can affect your OC's stability. You might need to make a custom fan profile via MSI AB.

Also, FYI, VRM 1 provides the core's power while VRM 2 provides the memory's power. A high core OC will heat up VRM 1 but not VRM 2 and vice versa.

Thank you! I'm actually watercooling, and during BF4 sessions, my max temps are:

GPU: 46 C
VRM1: 43
VRM2: 38

hmm...I think with 200%, you're actually playing at the 4k resolution. So it looks like scaling is another form of super sampling. Which means that you're taking an oversized image and shirnking it to fit your resolution. Essentially, you're take each axis and multiplying it by the percent your changing it by. So if you're playing at 200%, that means the resolution you're playing at is (1920*2) by (1080*2), which is essentially 4k res or 4 1080p monitors.

Like wise, to simulate 1440p resolution on a 1080p screen, you'd have to multiply both the x and y by 1.33.

At my clocks, I'm getting 55 FPS average at 170% scaling, so now I know that this card can definitely handle 1440p or even 1600p..

Just a quick question, I'm debating on selling this Ref Sapphire 290x I bought first day on craigslist and just waiting for the Non Ref coolers to come out and fork out some extra cash or possibly wait for non ref 290s and then cross fire those. What should I try and sell this card for? I have successfully ran it stable at 1175 Core and 1450 mem running valley and Furmark on a +100 vddc offset in Trixx.

Honestly, the only reason why I personally bought the reference card is because I was planning on watercooling my rig. And the only time I've ever recommended to others to buy the reference card is only if they're watercooling, otherwise wait for a non-ref or get an nVidia card. Because honestly, the loud noise aside, the heat really throttles the thing so you don't get its full potential. If you don't plan on water cooling, then certainly sell it. You may be able to break even because of the price gouging that's going on right now.
