What about the power limit?

I'm sure power limit can be safely maxed out, it's like power limit on Nvidia. I do +45 with my 24/7 OC.

I am ready to press the order button on my 290(X) but I am not sure about two things. The 290 and 290x are very close to each other and some may say that the 290X is not worth the extra money. Does this also count when I add it into my waterloop? I only find reviews where they compare a reference 290 vs a reference 290x. In other words, has the 290x more oc-potentional when placed in a waterloop?

Secondly, is there a difference between the sapphire and asus bios? Are they both voltage unlocked or do I need a modified bios?

Thanks in advance.

I red somewhere, probably on this web that one guy had raw 290 version that could much more OCed than raw 290x so it means that does not much matter what version do you have if you want to OCed it. and that 4% increase ind default is nothing for that money. So its my opinion ;-)
Here is my SS from Valley with light OCed 290 Saphire version (1100/1420 Mhz)

Thanks, did you flash anoher bios on that sapphire? And is the Sapphire bios voltage unlocked? And is that score stable with gaming etc? 1 completed run of Valley doesn't say much to me. I can get a 2400 score on my 770 but that doesn't make it stable at all. Just curious. I orderd my waterblock but haven't made a choice yet about the card.

So what I've been doing is I've been raising my core by 10 and my memory by 25. Between each increase, I run 3DMark and between every 50 increase in core I run valley for a while or play bf4 for a half hour. Right now, I'm at 1200/1500 without touching the voltage. Now, I'm just wondering if this is normal or if this card I have is "better than average"? What I plan on doing is finding the unstable clocks for core and memory, from there drop it down by 25 and 50 respective, and push the voltage offset by 10mv. Is this an okay plan? And do you guys leave your cards overclocked/volted or do you only overclock when gaming?

Something weird is starting to happen. After a while of computer usage my chrome starts to flicker anytime I have it as a active window. When I move the mouse it just flickers, and if I keep doing it, it will black screen, which forces me to hard reset my comp. mad.gif I haven't changed anything, this is just so sudden. Never happens in games...

any dual/tri/quad 290x owner?

I had an issue a while ago and I hope someone can test this if possible...

when you enable crossfire on 290x, there seems to be a graphical lag with assassins creed 4 and metro last light where in, the screen looks like as if the FPS is somewhere between 3 to 5 but the real FPS is normal and unaffected.

it happens remotely about once every 2-3 minutes so you have to watch the game carefully to notice it.

apparently, it only occurs on wifi asus motherboards wherein, when its ON... it causes this issue and when its OFF, the issue is gone.

if anyone has an asus wifi enabled mobo such as asus rampage iv black ed. kindly enable your wifi and try playing metro last light or assassins creed IV if this same issue also occurs on your PC.

thank you!

Man, newegg is seriously taking advantage of the mining situation. They've got the custom cards priced at 700, haha. Freaking newegg, I'm never shocked by their shenanigans.
