Is it safe to set the GPU Voltage to +100?
I'm trying to change the power draw to manipulate the speed of the coils.

VRM2 is at 48C while 1 is at 66C... But, it is the exact same on both of the cards according to GPU-Z. If this is normal please let me know because I'm thinking about pulling the blocks off of the cards and checking them out. Thanks.

VRM1 is core and VRM2 is memory, so it's normal for there to be a temp split like that. Your temps sound about right for a mining load.

If you can cool them, most definitely. Personally, I don't run more than +65 24/7 but that's just me. 100 should be safe.

Old Card: Sapphire R9 290
New Card : Sapphire R9 290X BF4 Edition

Also to add confirmation, the new Sapphire R9 290X card came with Elpida memory, but works absolutely fine, runs happily at 1110/1325 (would go higher, but haven't had enough time).

I think you missed me Arzonian, switched from a 290 to a 290x because of RMA'ing and blackscreens

First off sorry for extremely bad quality picture, it is very hard to see my user name. redface.gif

Good news is that I bought a R9 290 and received a R9 290X. biggrin.gif And BF4 too, 480$ cdn total haha, I'm so freaking happy right now. tongue.gif Man these reference cards are so heavy!!

1. the pic
2. AMD R9 290X (actually it's a Diamond but even in GPU-Z it just says ATI in subvendor, so I assume this is a card directly from AMD)
3. Stock

how do I get the voltage to more than +100 mV ?

I am using msi afterburner 3.0.0 beta 18 and no matter what setting I change (extend official overclocking limit, disable ulps, unofficial overclocking mode) the AB won't let me go any higher then +100mV and 1235 core

I got two sapphire 290 BF4 edition and need to pick the one I keep and install accelero on (and install the cooler withing the 14day return period in case anything goes wrong ;o)

both are locked elpida

one has 72.4 asic and one has 71.5 asic

when trying to find the max oc on stock voltage I noticed the 71.5 gets up to 1.19v where the 72.4 only gets to 1.15, both at the same 1100mhz, +50 power limit, same game and everything

I need to pick the better one and dunno if it's better to have higher stock volts or tiny bit higher asic....since I'll be using accelero I will probably be able to cool higher voltage then what it's currently letting me

just testing the 71.5 one and anything over 1150 core will start to artefact slightly in games, valley seemed ok....I am having the fan turned up to keep the core from dropping down

And is it possible to under volt the card?
Also, does nail polish work on these cards despite the caps being closed?
