[Official] AMD R9 290X / 290 Owners Club - Page 1339

By the way, I just discovered something that will be of interest of anyone who mines. These cards underclock like a champ! With lowered clocks(I'm currently trying out 870mhz), I'm able to run it fully stable at 0.975v average. It doesen't even touch 80c on the stock fan curve! And since mining isn't affected by core clock all that much...It's a win-win.

Edit:
Just noticed that the fan was stuck on 44%. That explains a lot. Still, I can barely hear it above my pump.
And another thing, at 800mhz the vcore is down to 0.949 wheee.gif

First off sorry for extremely bad quality picture, it is very hard to see my user name. redface.gif

Good news is that I bought a R9 290 and received a R9 290X. biggrin.gif And BF4 too, 480$ cdn total haha, I'm so freaking happy right now. tongue.gif Man these reference cards are so heavy!!

1. the pic
2. AMD R9 290X (actually it's a Diamond but even in GPU-Z it just says ATI in subvendor, so I assume this is a card directly from AMD)
3. Stock

Congrats - added thumb.gif

Haven't tested yet, but I guess it's still around the 800 mark.
Edit: ~750 @850mhz. Will try 890.
Edit2: 890 brings me up to about 780. But mining is definitely more taxing than fsx. I'll have to increase the fans in order to keep it from throttling. Which is kind of sad, I really though I had something going here, the firestrike results were so promising. 78c, øower fan speed etc.

it won't start

if I create a bat file and put in it

it won't start either

Yeah, undervolting is possible, I do it to decrease idle temperatures, not sure about the cap thing.

I posted this question in another thread and I am curious to ask you guys.
Please share your experiences or thoughts.

Let's say I buy 10 of these for mining. Expensive card, definitely not the card to run "COOL" under load. I would assume overheating damage or blown vrms or any thing like that is a user error correct? So what does the warranty from manufacturer leave with? Random errors on the card?

I see some videos where people have an insane amount of these cards with a fan blowing over them and I know a card like this running 70-80C GPU(imagine those vrms!!!!) its not the best thing.

Really curious on the experiences you have had with some manufacturers and warranty of their product. I know it is much easier to deny an RMA, but what is really left that is not "user error"

You need Afterburner Beta 17 or Beta 18.
