I was in Heaven benchmark max out using free camera. I parked up at the stone houses and the smoke chimneys. All was still (Other than the smoke). Here was my usage:

Can you see those small dips? See how the usage does not match?

Added GPU usage averaging algorithm for Overdrive 6 capable AMD GPUs. Now displayed GPU usage is being averaged by sliding window to smooth GPU usage artifacts occurring due to bug in AMD ADL API on AMD Sea Islands GPU family

Thats directly from MSI AB log.

I got a problem with my 290 unlocked to 290X...

I overclocked it with MSI AB at first using +100mV and it works just fine at 1150Mhz core and 1500Mhz VRAM but it gives artifacts at 1160Mhz.

Now, I know ASUS GPU Tweak allows for 1.412v as I used the ASUS BIOS.
However, when I up the voltage to anything above say, 1.30v, the card randomly flickers black screens or my screen just goes to stand-by all together. It's like it's losing signal constantly with a voltage higher then the +100mV MSI AB can do...

Temps are not an issue. Core is cooled by a Accelero Hybrid and never goes over 65c on low rad fans.
Also, VRM's are cooled with a cut up baseplate of the stock cooler and VRM's never go over 60c.
Thundahcat.

I have same issue. If you lower the power limit you will be able to put more volts in and reach higher clocks, however you will hit the wall earlier obviously. TSM mentioned reaching limit of pwm mosfest is a possible cause. However actual 290Xs seem to have a higher limit than unlocked 290s.
I also get the flickering with added voltage or increased power limit ... I can't do +30 power limit nor more than +80mv ...

You probably are not even stable at 1150Mhz, have you OCCT test it to confirm your stable at 1150?

at +50mV I am stable at 1150Mhz, but at 1160 I am not stable (OCCT) but I don't get any artifacts at all.

Anyways you can't really complain about it, its a "unlock" not a full blown 290X to begin with. you are lucky enough to unlock it and at 1150 its pretty darn good already. (that's my set daily clocks, 1150/1400)

I know smile.gif I am happy with it but I like to maximize performance of my hardware and a little modding or extra volts doesn't bother me smile.gif
That's why I run my 3770K delidded @ 4.95Ghz as that's the max I can get it to without running hot. It hits about 60c in daly usage and 75c in full LinX AVX / Prime95 AVX stress (adaptive PWM fan and pump speed which only ramps up above from 40% above 65c).

I'm just a bit bored as I always clock and tweak everything and my CPU and RAM both run at the max of their potential. The only thing I haven't tweaked to the max is the GPU haha.

And stable in OCCT, I don't really care all that much about it. If the games I play work without crashes, FPS drops or atrifacts it's stable.
Since both BF4 and Far Cry 3, the most taxing games out there in terms of OC stability, run for hours and hours without a single artifact it's fine by me lol.

Point is, with minor artifacting (black and white square patterns popping up once every ~ minute orso) I can run as high as 1200Mhz but I wanna get rid of the artifacts and I feel that with a tad more voltage on the beast I can probably get away with 1200-1225Mhz of core clocks.

I'm planning to keep the 290X and see what Mantle brings as BF4 is basically all I play besides ArmA II DayZ Epoch / DayZ standalone.
If Mantle disappoints in terms of performance or stability i'm out and going back to a GTX780 / GTX780 Ti. I kinda miss my 780 frown.gif

For the overvolters;
AB only allows 100mV unless you go command line, GPUTweak (when flashed with an Asus bios, 3518 being latest) adds upto 162mV, Trixx maxes at 200mV.

Is that same possible to do with clocks? Im stucked at 1625 Mhz stable on RAM, but cant put more.
Its possbile only with trixx, but AB and trixx are making problems when run together.
