Did a few test benchmarks to see if it wasn't DOA and mounted a EKWB waterblock + backplate on it. I just did a 15 minutes valley run and I do get the following temps:

GPU: 45°
VRM1: 51°
VRM2: 37°

The valley score was 2527 @ stock settings. I'll be overclocking in a few weeks. I will try the stock settings first for some time.

At idle the temps are around

GPU: 30°
VRM1: 27°
VRM2: 25°

Are these temps normal for a watercooled loop? I post 2 pictures to get an idea of my loop!

It looks like you have your gpu inlet and outlet on the same side of the terminal. I think inlet should be on one side and outlet on the other (top or bottom doesn't matter). I would have thought your temps would be very poor like that as the coolant could just go straight through without circulating the block... unless there is a separator to prevent this, I dunno didn't check when I installed mine. Your temps seem good though.

Hey,

No, the outlet under the inlet is just a tube for my drain. It doesn't go anywhere. But thanks for your concerns redface.gif

I ordered a MSI Gaming R9 290 @ $470 - with the caveat being that it's temporarily OOS. I'm away from my desktop for a few weeks so I don't particularly mind waiting smile.gif I'm hopeful it will arrive in a few weeks. When it does arrive, expect a thorough Yoshi review like in the days or yore wink.gif

imho it's quite the opposite mate...it matters on hawaii more then on any other previous chips

stating freq @ voltage offset (without stating asic quality as well) is the meaningless since the base voltage depends on the asic

my 71.5% asic gets to 1.20v without any voltage increase
my 72.4% asic gets to 1.15v without any voltage increase

the higher the asic the lower the base voltage
and the higher the voltage the higher the temps, the higher the temps the lower freq (due to throttling to keep it under 95 without going over the max fan duty cycle set by amd to make the card quieter)

and as always the higher asic you have the lower voltage you need to acheive certain freq

ASIC "quality" is a misnomer propobated by GPU-z reading a register and not really knowing what it results in. It is even more meaningless with the binning mechanism of Hawaii.

I don't think lower stock voltage matters much. That's why AB works with an offset.

I would wait a bit. Asus just announced release of DCII. Only known card to come with hynix 100%. EK also will be making waterblock for it.
