Ya, they have been built into the drivers for a while now. I just updated my laptop 7970m drivers to confirm biggrin.gif

Profiles are included within the actual drivers. Profiles that are developing are directly programmed within the drivers code until a profile is formulated. AMD pump out new variations of their Beta's all the time. I don't think AMD will ever go back to CAPS patches due to this change in protocol.

Think that may have been my issue... Also I backed off on my cpu OC, so far so good. Running 1150/5300 atm at 1.273 V on PT1 bios. Temps are all in check, bf4 seems to run fine.... Wow I feel dumb.

Should have backed off on the refresh rate long ago

It crashed at 1400mhz memory and stock clocks? Youre raising voltages right? tongue.gif

Try ASUS bios maybe w/ GPU Tweak? I dont know - kinda sounds like a bad overclocker.

Not sure if it's apples to apples, but my R9 290 (non-X) can run BF4 up to 1085/1285 on stock volts without issue.

I started out with 1100/1300 and after occasional DX errors (core) and black screens (memory), I dialed it back by 5 until I reached stability.

Thats good to know, thanks guys. Going to be interesting having a Radeon again, looking forward to it. Now hopefully the "damaged box" card isnt dead.

Forgive my ignorance, but what are CRU values?

And on another side note, I can only push 1130/1550 on my R9 290X with +20% Power Limit and +88 mV, if I go any higher on the GPU than that I start getting artifacts, could I have just got a dud overclocker, or is there something else wrong?

Try lowering your memory clocks, it doesn't add much performance. You definitely should be able to get above 1200 Mhz core, but it can require +100 or even +150 mV to be stable. I can benchmark at 1250 core 1500 memory without any artifacts, but it will artifact in games when I run my 1440p monitor at 96+ Hz. When gaming I turn down the memory to 1400 Mhz and core to 1230 Mhz. I use +150 Mv core as +100 was not enough (haven't thoroughly tested inbetween values)

CRU - Custom Resolution Utility by ToastyX. There should be tutorials on how to set the timings in the monitor thread should you wish to overclock your panel (if its possible). Afaik no one has given better timings than my 459Mhz@120hz 1440p http://www.overclock.net/t/1384767/official-the-korean-pls-monitor-club-qnix-x-star/6910#post_20798547

Which card/bios are you on?
