My card shows some red pixels when overclocked at round 75c (75% fan). When fan is at 100% the temps go down to 70c and they don't show up. Now I want watercooling. frown.gif

I have a MK-26 around, I will try it for fun!

I'm overclocking and the highest I can get my 290x to is 1130/1550, if I go higher than that on the GPU I start getting artifacting, I'm using +88mV and +20% Power Limit, am I doing something wrong?

http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/w2h9h/

Thanks!

EDIT: It's using Elpida RAM modules if that makes any difference tongue.gif

+20% isn't enough. Bump it to 50% if you want real results.

Increase the power limit first and see, you can also go higher on voltage if your temps look good.

They say r9 290(x) is made for 95c and all that but it's not true. As soon as you start bumping the clocks artifacts show up, and to me artifacts is not a sign of instability (unless memory oc is involved), but more like gpu is running too hot, which causes instability. Never had any artifacts on my 7950 and it was always running cool. Any WC guys that get artifacts from ocing the core?

That's the issue, whenever I go higher I seem to get a lower FPS?
That makes no sense, you are only increase the max power output to the card so why would it lower FPS? Unless of course you are temperature throttled.
Ok, I got it up to 1150/5500 and got no artifacts and FPS was higher, but got blackscreen, maybe too high on the memory?

Every black screen I have encountered so far was caused by memory clocks being too high. Core clock errors usually result in DirectX errors in games, and blocky artifacts in benchmarks.
