Ok, should I drop memory down to 1500 then?

The step amount is a personal, subjective decision. In my opinion, if you're getting a black screen quickly at 1550, go down to 1500 in one shot. If it takes a while to get a black screen at 1550, step down less (maybe 5-10 at a time).

This is where patience comes into play. The closer you get to stability, the longer it could take for you to see a problem and realize you need to tweak more!

Ok, just for the sake of squeezing the performance, i'll bring it down in 10's until the blackscreens are eliminated, god damn Elpida RAM!! tongue.gifthumb.gif

Don't blame the ram, I was able to get 1500 easy on both my 290x cards with Elpida without any overvoltage at all. It is just luck of the draw here.

I agree. My Elpida is epic, here's a quick run with +100/50mv: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/2166593

Hi, got 2 Sapphire R9 290X BF4 edition. Hynix memory.
Under WATER with 2x XSPC waterblocks with backplates, in series.
GPUZ Validation: http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/29cym/

Got them now on 1166core - 1403 (5609Mhz)Mem.
Vddc offset 112, power limit +50, using Saphire Trixx.
For some odd reason MSI aftherburner did not bring these cards beyond 1125/1400, without throteling @ 45 -55 degrees C. depending the fan speed on the rad.

With Sapphire Trixx i can allso go beyond the +100mV offset, wich is nice.

Original Cards

Cards with the water blocks.

Cards in my rig.

So, can i join the club? thumb.gif

How's the black screen issue nowadays?

Supposedly the 13.12 drivers are supposed to fix it.

I'm getting a R9 290 Tri-X in a few days, when I install it I'll come back and post GPU-Z to be added to the club.
