I bought this card a few days ago and it arrived yesterday with no damage. I installed the drivers, then played a game of BF4 to take it for a test run, then I uninstalled Nvidia drivers (I have / had a GTX 660ti). Once I restarted my PC after uninstalling, it wouldn't boot past the windows icon with a swirly circle.
My build in brief:
ASUS Sabretooth P67 mobo
GTX 660ti / AMD R9 290
2 x OCZ Vertex 4 120gb each
2 x Samsung Spinpoint F3s 1tb each
8gb G-skill DDR3 1333mhz
i5 2500k not OC'ed at present
I have 2 24 inch monitors that are connected via HDMI (although one is currently DVI for troubleshooting)
I took a look at my Bios and surprise, it was out of date. So i downloaded the 4 bios updates and cycled through them in order, clearing the CMOS after each one to be certain. Put the 290 in again, but no luck.
I re-installed windows completely (yay for backups right?) and went through the established process once more with the 13.12 drivers, but no luck. I tried the 13.11 drivers, but no luck there either. I've tried the tool listed on page one here to completely erase the drivers, and started again, but no luck at all.
Now, my mates got a rig and the card works fine in that with no apparent immediate issues also, so this is looking more and more like I send the card back and splash out a little more on a gtx780. I've never had these kinds of issues with new cards before, and as a lifelong Nvidia buyer, the move across to what's an amazing card for the price has been EVERYTHING but easy!
Does anyone have any ideas? If not then I have a 290 for sale, £310 if you pay for postage! :S
