But the core starts throttling at 1080Mhz without influence on power or Voltage setup.
Can anyone put here his BIOS for R9-290 which is not throttling?rolleyes.gif Or how to aviod it?
Temps are 50°C MAX, included VRM;)

Did you increase the power limit, and make sure it took in CCC? Sometimes when you set it in Afterburner it doesn't actually change it.

It worked fine to start, no problem. Then I restarted my PC and got a windows logon circle, then a black screen. Weird, I thought!

My adventure so far has included completely flashing my bios and upgrading to the newest version. I've installed my old card then downloaded the drivers again, only to have the same issue again as soon as I plug in my 290.

I've re-installed windows 8.1 and it's still not working at all

I'm using the beta drivers (13.11 I think? Could be wrong)

Does anyone have anything that's worked for them in the short-term? I've been at this for the last 4 hours and it's doing my head in!

I've read on hear that they're releasing updated drivers, are they out yet? Am I in fact using the drivers that should fix this issue?

Thanks for any help on this, I'll include the pic below.

Are you able to get into Safe Mode? If so its a driver thing. Are you using GPU Tweak to overclock? I had an issue when i updated to Windows 8.1, GPU Tweak services failed to start in windows and just ended up with a black screen.

If this is the case, you can disable GPU Tweak windows services in safe mode.

What Bios do you use or recomend for R9-290?

i have used my stock sapphire 290x bios, ofcourse is not throttling, i'm using TriXX for overclock +100mv and +50 power limit, so it was around 1.28v, and i'm monitoring with gpu-z smile.gif

A while ago I had some issues with my 290X, would get random black screens and shutdowns. Since then I went back to my CF 7850s, but as of Thursday I ordered a Sapphire Tri-X OC. Was hoping to have it today, but I guess Newegg doesn't mention that their Newegg Next Day, is only standard Fedex overnight, not Saturday one, kinda mad about it, spent about $30 to get it next day (was thinking friday, took 23 hours to get processed with rush processing)

I'll definitely be making another in-depth voltage and temp chart. Probably compare it to the stock one I did. Funny thing that I saw from one of the reviews on the Tri-X OC, they mentioned the voltage bump taking the card up to 1.297, I was maxing out on that voltage regardless of what you do after 1.3 in GPUTweak. I do not know if there's been any improvements on the custom bios' or software tools to actually allow the ref cards to stay stable above 1.3.

Here's my chart for those who might of missed it:

My core can handle 1100 without touching Voltage or power, anything more leads to blackscreeen. If I add voltage and power, it makes big stuttering.
Memory 1700Mhz stable

Even the 450 watts Cooler Master V450S have 36 amps on its single 12v rail

Cooler Master V1000 have 83 amps on its single rail just to compare
My PSU has 70A on the single 12v rail

FOrceman, yep. I changed too many times drivers because of black screens that I forgot to unlock Overdrive in CCC.
So thanks, for reminder. Maybe it helps. Now I go to bed. Good bye today.
