[Official] AMD R9 290X / 290 Owners Club - Page 1394

Soooo, last night I talked myself into the first steps of planning a custom loop that will include cooling for my R9 290. Right now I'm sort of set on the XSPC Razor block, but can be swayed. Anyone care to post what OC you achieved, temps you observe, and the general parts info you have (radiators, pump, etc.)?

I know this has been mentioned in passing in many previous pages, but a clean line of info would certainly help spread info in here.

And if there's a better place to ask, please let me know.

Thanks.

EK recommends putting a small dab of thermal paste on the VRM before putting the pad on, if I remember correctly. I did and it didn't seem to cause any problems, but I don't know if it helped any.

I saw this in the manual as well. I decided to go against putting TIM on VRM's and it worked out fine.

Yeah, I doubt it makes much difference. If I had better pads (not the stock ones) I probably wouldn't have bothered.

Blackscreen update here, tried the asus bios linked a few pages back. Slowly working with it, ran bf4 stable at 1170/1375 at 1.32 V. As soon as I went to 1180 I got a black screen. Didn't adjust memory yet... So now running with more voltage, seems to be ok for now at 1180/1400 at 1.375 V.

Edit: Nvm, got a black screen... Still working

Yeah, I found it a complete waste of time. You are completely out of a rig, they put off quite a bit of heat and you may end up dealing with criminals such as BTC-e.com if you didn't research enough. While your computer is mining, you can only browse the internet. There are lots of critical details such as if you lose your wallet.dat, you lose everything. I guess that there are backup options but.....I found out the hard way.

I honestly found it very stressful and the few cents per hour wasn't worth it IMO. To each their own though.

I found folding a much more productive use for my H/W.

haha I do the same thing. I'm going to miss that feature of the R9 290 once I water cool it.

Going to be receiving my RMA'd XFX card back tomorrow. Anything I should test before voiding my warranty?

P.S Anyone know of any good ways to remove those two stickers on the screws?
