Don't take this the wrong way, I still don't understand why people buy $500 items and won't spend $100 on a full cover block frown.gif It always hurts me inside biggrin.gif

Anyhow, I got this 290x I'm using at a bad price and with those voided warrantys I'm scared to put it under water. What really sucks is seeing a card idle temperature being 20C more than my old watercooled card under load for long benchmarks or games frown.giffrown.giffrown.gif

Multiply that x3 and throw in rads, pump, reservoir, tubing, and a new case so it will all fit, and it adds up to a ton of $.

Hey guys, in a completely un-related question, on the 3 pin fan connectors, which one is the RPM lead? the left? right? or middle? the H100 that I got for free is not getting the RPM sensor right (my mobo thinks theres no fan connected) I believe the RPM lead is in the wrong spot, he did mention the connector broke off before and he just put it back.

Sorry about this, I just figured to ask here coz this thread is very much active. xD

Did the universal GPU block tubing connect to a magical pump/res/rad tongue.gif
When the money is already spent on the loop, universal or full cover gpu block doesn't add to what was already spent

Switched back to air cooling gpu for past to 2 gpu setups since my 480 full cover and yada yada way back when.

I almost went full cover, but in the end it was gonna be $80 adding it to my loop than going with universal block. I did it on the cheap and it solved my noise and temp issue so me happy. tongue.gif

And warranty, hah, if it works for at least 2 weeks it's good, after that I know if it dies it's my fault lachen.gif Don't need no stinkin warranty wheee.gif

hahaha yeah I hear ya, I'm a bit iffy with throwin blocks straight on the card, took me a few weeks of mildly using my old card before I took the step.

time to try out this battlefield 4 and see how this card does, then time to see how this haswell oc's wish me luck!

So this card has me baffled, I have a lot of reading that needs to be done.
Just ran furmark, almost hit 80C but vrms were 58 and 62C, the blower on the card sounds like a leafblower biggrin.gif

Confused why the card kept going from 900-915mhz and didn't run its stock 1000mhz advertised clock

On the other hand, it's showing me 9xx-92x core / 1250mhz memory with V1.000 ish on GPU, is this card really doing these numbers on that low of a voltage?
My mind has been blown, it's throttling from 0.977V to 1.016V on VDDC

Only time I have had issues like that unless gpu was not under 100% load was when AB freaked out a bit and it took a restart to straighten up.

I've noticed if the gpu usage drops even the slightest it will decide to auto drop clocks which vddc goes right along with. Haven't used furmark as it's unrealistic usage typically.

Since i haven't used it can't really help you much there on your 290X's behavior.

Is it doing this under all loads?

I was trying to get msi kombuster working but since I just reformatted I didn't try further. (first time i personally used furmark)

did however get the bf4 installed to test card out, hitting 1000/1250 and max vddc has been 1.141

Probably power throttling. Did you check and make sure the power limit was increased? Sometimes AB doesn't set it right and you have to set it in CCC.

Oh sorry for the flash, didn't think of a pic till very end. It ended up a lot uglier than I wanted it to, gonna have to contemplate a re-do haha.

Using stock base plate by doing the re-use mod obviously since I did it trying my Zalman hsf. And it doesn't do too bad, with a fan over the vrm1 section I hit mid 70's on vrm1 and low 60's on vrm2. Hopefully ram is ok, no issue so far so I guess they are.thumb.gif

Feels good to finally feel like I can play with this thing. biggrin.gif

GPUZ

Congrats - added thumb.gifSnorkle.gif

Is this while playing games? My cards was acting the same way too when I first set them up. However, after reinstalling drivers, GPU core & memory clock running at full speed while playing BF3 & BF4. MSI AB, GPU-Z & Open Hardware Monitor show they're running at full speed when playing BF3 & BF4. When running benchmark, e.g. Unigine, 3dmark, it's normal for the clocks to fluctuating I think.
