Did the latest AB Beta remove the extended overclocking? I updated and I can only go as high as 1235 on the core?!?!?!?

I'm having a problem with my R9 290 reference card. It's throttling, but it's not thermal throttling as the temperature is no where near the target. I verified that by running the fan manually 62% speed.
So basically the core clock (and memory clock) drop every now and then to around 300MHZ, like if they were idle. I can't find the cause. Could it have something to do with my PSU (thermaltake 630W)? Or is the card faulty?

Other components in my setup are:

ASUS P8Z77V_LX2
i5-3570k
8GB DDR3

GPU-Z when the clocks are normal (although you can see the very fast drops as white lines):
http://aijaa.com/NCvR9X

GPU-Z exactly when there is a drop:
http://aijaa.com/pntucK

SOLVED: It seems that even though I didn't have AB before, when I downloaded the latest beta of AB. I don't get the drops anymore. Really weird.

EDIT: It seems that GPU-Z makes the drops. Weird. I dont have the drops if I don't monitor them through GPU-Z (using GPU-Z 0.7.5)

i saw you post your idle voltage for the 290X. my 290 idle voltage is 0.984v. interesting that the X has a lower setting.

are you saying that AB was the culprit? so, you uninstalled it and the issue went away?

It seemed that the installation (not uninstallation) of latest beta of AB solved the issue, but now that I've done more tests it is GPU-Z that is causing the problems.
As soon as I start GPU-Z (0.7.5) the drops start and the moment when I close it the drops disappear.

i see. not sure about your gpu but my vrm temps can only be detected by gpuz. guess not going to open during a game or a bench. thanks, i'll observe it, too, see if it does the same.

This card is going back, the owner of the store offer me replacement so i hope all will be fine with the other thumb.gif

Also tip for owners of Tri X,

Do not use GPU-Z replace it with HWinFO, GPU-z is freezing systems for this card i guess vBIOS issue, happening to 4 cards, my friends have them, and also on few users on the forum.

Here's highest I've achieved in valley, 1218/1690, Extreme Preset

Single GPU

Thanks very much for this result. Could you repeat the test using stock GPU clocks please?

Thanks!
