I wouldn't say "just" +100mV, since that's all most people are comfortable running 24/7.

okay so what you guys are saying is 1150-1180 is avg and 1200 is considered "attainable" as long as i have good VRM cooling and as long as i dont have a HIS card? The guy trading me says the 290x can hit 1100 on air does that say anything that it could possibly be higher on water?

Im trying to think if i want warranty..... or not..... 290x is a good card but im sad that Sapphire will void my warranty.... need to think about this more.....

I thought Sapphire was one of the companies that didn't put stickers on the screws. It was all discussed a while back when they first came out, I'll see if I can find the post.

And 1200 is an above average overclock unless you are comfortable running higher than average voltages. Most cards will do 1150 or so with AB voltages (so +100mV), but 1200 may take more than that.

Edit: And Sapphire definitely does not have any stickers on the screws, at least in North America - I forgot that my first card was a Sapphire. They may still say it voids the warranty to remove the cooler, but as long as you put it back on I don't think they'll hassle you. Very few manufacturers overtly say it is okay to mess with the cooler.

No, Sapphire do NOT have stickers over the screws, i can confirm that from when I had one........mine wasn't a very good clocker though +100mV and i could only hit 1150 Stable........thought thats not a representation of Sapphire smile.gif

Im scared if i put a waterblock on my sapphire 290x it will void warranty? Sapphire rep said i couldnt even change TIM, would they know i changed the TIM? Ill probably be putting on some Coolaboratory liquid ultra TIM

I took the cooler off my Sapphire 290x and replaced it with an Accelero Xtreme III and then had to RMA, it was all good, i just didnt tell them that i removed it thumb.gif

I though he was going to water cool, though. The stock coolers are hideous and I said only, because I for one am certainly going to put a waterblock on this baby biggrin.gif Also it is a bit of a gamble with the warranty if you remove the cooler, depends a lot on the person and company, I guess. I don't know about the RMA's in the states so can't say too much.

I can say CPU does effect the score a little bit though. Did you overclocked your CPU? Mine running @4.75GHz. Going from 3.8GHz (stock) to 4.75GHz, I gain ~8.5 FPS (cards at stock clock. [EDIT] ~8.5 FPS gain is in Crossfire. I didn't test how many FPS I can gain with single card though.).

Yeah i'm running @ 3.9Ghz(3.5 stock), i also had +20 power limit so i'll try another run in a moment with +50 and see if it makes any difference.

Edit:
Didn't really have any effect:

Getting some very high VRM1 temps on my first card (over 100 degrees) whereas my 2nd card seems to be much better maxing out at 70 degrees. I probably need to re-seat the waterblock on the first card which is a pain because I will have to drain the whole system rolleyes.gif

GPU1 seems doing all the work. 100C too high. Mine only max at 80s Celsius in BF4 & my ambient (indoor) temp is high (30+ Celsius). You can try thicker thermal pad on VRM1, it may help reducing the temp. I just re-seat water blocks on my cards a couple of days ago with thicker thermal pad on VRM1. Temp so far better in Valley but have not test it in BF4. BF4 will push VRM1 more than Valley. We'll see tonight.

BTW, is there huge difference on GPU temp between GPU1 & GPU2?
