Absolutely not in this case.
Core @ 1150 gives min fps of 92.

I'm trying to show that the speed of the VRAM made no difference to the fps.

Well it will help out, just that without having numbers from benchmarks you would very likely not notice it. The effect will vary from game to game. What I said was that the difference in overclocks from Elpida to Hynix would be even less noticeable and not worth worrying over memory type as long as the card runs fine thumb.gif

You are right R9 290(X) has 512-bit BUS so you can't for the life of you saturate it with measly FullHD 1440p or 3 monitor Eyefinity, memory clock increse for these cards measn nothing until you use 4K res. monitor.

Take a look: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18572559

Memory overclock for low res (yeah FullHD is now low. res biggrin.gif) is not helping at all biggrin.gif

Marginal. And the memory oc makes a huge difference.Already your fps are high. For the increase to 1150 the 2 fps increase is wrong too. I dont know why you dont see it. CPU limited

Go bench 3dmark and check memory oc. You will see the difference there

Well, if I increase the core even more, the min fps continues to increase. Like I said, in this instance, NOT CPU limited in this particular benchmark.
In addition, I am only talking about this benchmark and that the memory speeds made no difference. I'm sure 3D Mark will show a slight increase with higher memory clocks. I never disputed this. But if you read my posts, I am purely talking about a particular benchmark. The only game I know that loves VRAM speed and bandwidth is Metro 2033. Increasing the core speed did not increase fps much at all, but increasing VRAM speed did push the fps higher.

Valley is strange.

1175/1250/50%/25 1425

Upped the Memory

1175/1300/50%/25 1397

Other example

1200/1250/50%/63 1433
1100/1500/50%/100 1414

I've got a whole list of valley scores with their respective overclocks if you want to see, but I don't memory clock matters; at least not at 1080p

Hello,
Does anyone know if a reference PCB waterblock will fit on the new MSI r9 290x twin frozr 4s gaming ?

Why ? because it's the 290x i could buy from my local reseller ( i'm waiting his answer if he could get non-custom card )

According to EKWB it would fit, based on PCB pictures.
The review of Guru3D talked about custom PCB.. im a bit confused

Thank you.
