My r9-290x finally came in. And it Seems like Gigabyte just trolled me.....
I won a reference r9-290x mind you but it came in a windforce box so I got all happy thumb.gif. I then open the box to find a reference r9-290x. rolleyes.gif I got it for free and was planning to add a kraken g10 to it anyways but hey.

Hi people ,
just bought today the r9-290x (Asus dc2) .

Instaled the last version of catalyst Beta (14) and in BF3 i have stutter with vsync on (MP) . Anyone experienced this?

Also I am planning to mess with overclock... Max safe voltage for core is 1.3? Do you add any volatge to memory?

I will use Furmark to test stability .... Is furmark a good tool to test stability?

Sorry for my english... wink.gif

If you could add a GPU-Z validation link with OCN name showing would be great on that original post for verification. The pic looked like a 290X?

Don't use furmark, just play games to find stability. 1.3 Volts is very safe. No need to add voltage for memory. Don't use Vsync.

I never understood people who use v-sync. For me if you're going to spend big money on a GPU, I want it working as hard as possible producing all the FPS it can. lol

But at the same time I run @ 144hz monitor

hehe.

Well my monitor is 60Hz. For me if the card can run the game at max settings and at Monitor Hz its everything good.

On the topic of the tri-X bios, according to this: http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/151536/sapphire-r9290x-4096-131212.html it has Elpida memory capability too.

Honestly though, and someone with good bios knowledge please answer this, is there any difference between bios' and manufactures for reference design cards? If no, my guess is the tri-X bios is identical to reference except slightly OC'ed (since it uses a reference design card).

Speaking of which, I've been testing Tri-X BIOS and I finally got a black screen at 1500Mhz after 4hrs of BF4 play. But prior to flashing at 1500Mhz I would get black screen on BF4 w/ in minutes of playing BF4. slowly downlclocking my memory clocks (currently testing 1480Mhz) to see what's my max memory clock at stock voltage. altho when I increased my core voltage to +50mV (what I use when I have 1150Mhz core clock) at 1500Mhz memory clock i didn't get any black screen. When I got the black screen I was using stock voltage w/ core clocks of 1100Mhz (memory is at 1500Mhz of course).

I will further test it later at 1500mhz at +50mV see if I get any black screens w/ a bump on core votlage.
