I have one. Its on water now. But I remember what it was doing on air too. VRM's 72c max while mining. Core 70c max at about 83% fan speed. Stable on stock voltss at 1100mhz core and 1450memory. its gone up to 1500mhz on memory, but I have not tried higher than 1100 on the core. I needed +50mv to get the memory stable at 1500mhz.

Only played about 15 minutes of BF4 but I noticed the temps were about 8c lower. Mining is harder on these cards than gaming for sure. So my results should be indicative of worst case scenario. Obviously it is very loud at these settings, but it stays cool. My PC is in a basement closet, so noise isn't a huge issue.

Hey guys some info for you.

Do not count on GPU-Z readings for 12V, its the card vrm volts read out, (the IR controller) not the main 12V+ rail so its all good thumb.gif

HWiNFO is better choice to read 12V+ rail on your psu.

Lol thats exactly what made me wonder, I had two pictures pulled up one of that and one of reference. I was holding my backplate trying to match all the cuttouts to the back of the pcb. It didnt really work...really sweet to be able to confirm and I was able to pick one up today! Once again thanks and super sick setup!

Well just toke off my water block and got my 290x all packed up to RMA. I know you guys said it was silly to RMA for coil whine but the main reason i went with water cooling was for a silent rig anyways.

EDIT - Well i'll do some more testing before I drop it off at fedex. 3 weeks without my card sounds like a long long time

So quick question when enabling above the standard +100mv in afterburner.

Do I need a specific version of it? Or will it work with any?

Also just for the record I'm running the ASUS modded bios to get voltage access, and I've tried to use GPUtweak (to get the most voltage bump) and it rejects me opening it saying my card is not compatible. Is there a trick to this I'm missing?

My card does great since I put it under water (1182Mhz with zero artifacts never exceeding 48 C at +100mv) so I'm dying to try to push 1300Mhz and am pretty sure I can push up to that speed with another 100mv voltage bump, but seeing as how temps aren't an issue, would like the voltage overhead in case scaling stops being so good.

As such any help is greatly appreciated.

Trixx lets me push +200mv without issue

So I think my 850w psu will be fine for cross firing these. Testing without Gpus, total system wattage for 4670k @ 4.6, 1.25v is 145w. If I run a pair of 290s at stock on top that should be fine right? I might down clock my cpu also -- what do you guys think is a good 4670k clock for 290 crossfire?
