Are you trying to see how high you can go with stock voltage?

Actually I never fully unmounted the cooler again, I just released the screws enough for the cooler to stay in place, but I readjusted the torque. I also tried to apply more torque than I did right now and I was getting artifacts too, now I didn't apply too much and held the cooler. The problem with these cards is that the core is higher than the rest, so all the force you apply is on the core. I preferred the 79xx where the core was a little lower than the rest.

Turning HT on raises my cpu temp @ 5-7C, which raises my gpu temp in the same loop. BF3 and 4 SP have no issues with HT off. MP is a different animal. Some maps will require either a higher oc or turning HT helps a bit.

in all reality you bottlenecked your 7970 by adding a 7950...

a single OC 7970 on a single monitor has no issues running BF4 at ultra

not entirely. most of my tests were on stock volts but i also did some overvolting during the process. i didn't go too far or too deep in it. (was about an hour) but i could already see that this card overclocks the worst from everything i've seen so far. i will start a new attempt maybe this evening when i go back to the last drivers. it could even be that those buggy beta drivers are giving me troubles frown.gif

I am running three 290x on a z77 ud5h gigabyte board with gen3 x8,x8,x4 bandwidth. I know these may provide some bottleneck to these cards. I have played a few games in trifire and am coming from 7970 trifire. My 7970 trifire was butter smooth in all games with same hardware setup (only upgraded gpu's). Now i get alot of stutter, well not alot but it is noticeable and kills my gaming joy. My question is will having a small pcie bottleneck on hawaii impact framerate, frametime, or will it impact both? I have not tested just two cards, but one card is very smooth. I also use an afterburner fan profile and cards stay under 80c.

i don't know too much about that but maybe the drivers aren't as optimized yet for those cards

I guess to clarify I don't mind if I lose 5 to 7% of my frame rate because I have three cards and a massive framerate anyway but if the bandwidth limitation is causing my cards not to sync up and run crossfire correctly than it is a bigger matter. Thoughts?
I am also having trouble with the driver for some funny reason.. Everytime i choose uninstall from install manager it goes through the install but then remains on the list. That never happened with my 7970's and i uninstalled dozens of times.
I gave the 14.1 mantle drivers ago and nothing but problems!!!!

I was getting 7fps in 3DMark11 when im normally up around the 80fps mark lol

And most games didnt load.

Crossfire and the rendering load balance the cards so something else is happening there.
have a look at this :

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Intel/Ivy_Bridge_PCI-Express_Scaling/1.html

If you were to block all but a single PCIe lane , you would still get 70% of the cards performance.
