Does power limit help memory instability when overclocking the 290x. If not how do you increase mem voltage and what is safe? I cannot get past 1450 without line across my desktop whenever i move my mouse.

Nope only core voltage will help with memory stability.

wow, that is dangerous. mine is locked, too, according to an app. i am such a wuss in flashing gpus. mobo's, yes, that is easy.

Lol not @ once but i was looking for the best bios for my card.
And if one bios is working you don't have to worry about bricking, as you can easily unbrick it with the working bios.

Hey people, got a brand new Sapphire R9 290X for only 415e. (Remember, here in Finland 1€ = 1$.) So the price was pretty awesome.
So, I modified the cooler. I used the cheap Accelero S1 Plus (19€) , which was left behind from my 7870LE. Even if the S1 Plus doesn't have 290X support, it really does, as the screwholes line up perfectly.
Combined the cooler with 2x quiet 140mm TY147 fans, which are rated @ 21dba 73CFM (Got these for free). Screwed 2 of them into place. I left the VRAM's passive, as i'm not OCing the memory. (I believe the Asus DC II 290/X has passively cooled memory chips too) For the VRMs, I chopped a stock AMD heatsink. (The stock heatsinks aren't useless! biggrin.gif)
So the most interesting part, temperatures @ stock?!
Core dropped from 94C -> 73C load. (BF3, no throttling, uber bios enabled)
VRM's: VRM1 82C -> 70C. VRM2 66C -> 62C.
So, not bad? And the noise levels, these fans are quiet as I said, even at max. speeds.
Hope this helped you people, thanks for reading biggrin.gif

Yup. Just ordered the Powecolor LCS 290x.. Hope its worth it. lol It was over 900$ with the cost of Newegg's next day shipping..

I'll order the waterblock for it tomorrow. Going with what was recommended by a member here. smile.gif Can't wait until its all set up, then its time to take a few days off and get properly acquainted with some BF4. biggrin.gif

I will be asking to join the club within the next few days. Til then guys! thumb.gif

Nice.. but doesn't that already come with an EK waterblock on it ? If you're going to switch it out you should try just getting a reference card and save some money.

Yeah, it does.. I'm getting the cooling kit for it separately though, because I'm waiting to get more money from my paycheck. lol smile.gif

well you can try to fiddle with the aux voltage if your card allows it but at your own risk. aux voltage is a bit mysterious ^^ some say it helps keeping overclocks stable, others say it does nothing, others say it can cause serious damage.

When sharing temps, please don't forget to include ambient (indoor) temp. Without it the number is useless.
