Quick question though, I'm getting different readings for the 2 cards on GPUz.

2816 shanders on one card, 2560 on the other.
176GTexel/s vs 160.
Memory GDDR5 (autodetect) vs (elpida)
Bus Width 32bit vs 512bit!
Bandwidth 20.2 GB/s vs 322.6GB/s

Can anyone explain this to me?! Is it just GPUz is bugged or is there something up with one of my cards? Running latest beta drivers.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Congrats - added thumbsupsmiley.png

Also #277 your the first DCUII's on the roster. smile.gif

Your logfile (and mine) gives normal temps for overclocking the Tri-X, but high VRM is due to that. To help my card from 1125 Core to 1150, I have to raise the voltage to +75 mV, which gives me a slightly better performance, but it will result in VRM above 90 C.

So, I decided to lower my clocks to 1125 which only needs +25 mV. VRM stays now below 85-90 C...

You could gain a lot by lowering your memory clock. I doubt if 1600 is performing much better than say 1400

thanks for the information, yeah i will also see if i can decrease those temps a bit. i also noticed that i can run 1120 at +20mV but i need +100mV for 1140 xD

the pcie, bus and bandwidth are power saving, the rest isn't, you cant enable or disable shaders on-the-fly.

He has R9 290 cards, it can't show 2816 shaders on one card unless he got lucky flashing it to X version, I'm sure if he did he would not wonder why.
The only other way is if somebody put R9 290X card in the wrong box.

EDIT
In that case the card with the 2816 shaders would also show GPU Clock 1050 MHz and Memory 1350MHz, but it doesn't, it shows the R9 290 clocks for both cards.

tried to contact xfx rep for if i remove the warranty stickers for my stock reference xfx r9 290 will it remove the warranty

and here is the reply

Your question has been discussed by our management and the conclusion is not allowed.

It means it will be no warranty if you use aftermarket cooler.

Therefore, if you want to buy the card, please think twice.

guess ill wait fot 2 years for the warranty to expire huhuhuhu to be able to replace the stock cooler doh.gif

With a healthy overclock I think a 4670k will do fine with two 290's. The gain from single to xfire will be a healthy jump, but with a 4770k you would get an even greater jump possibly. I made the switch when I went tri-fire 6970's years ago. biggrin.gif

Edit: Back then I went from 2500k @ 4.9ghz to 2600k @ 4.7ghz and still got more performance with the multi-gpu setup. Especially when BF3 came out.

Where did you find this XFX rep or how did you contact him?

I made a ticket on the XFX support website on february the 8th and I still haven't received a reply nothing, I asked if they could provide me with a UEFI GOP bios for the R9 290, because I want to use ultra fast boot.

Was this in North America? As far as I know, that's the only place they allow removal of the cooler.
