Mine doesn't usually but only playing BF4, for example I just tried 1210/1450+150mv. Bit of overkill on the voltage, thats with EK 1mm pads with TIM on top of pads.

What is your ambient (indoor) temp? Ambient (indoor) here without aircond 30+ Celsius 24/7. We had cooler night for a couple of weeks, 28C but not anymore. When my cards at stock clock, usually core & VRM1 are very close with each other. It's when I overclock VRM1 start to getting higher than core but the difference is less than 10C.

Are you using tim and thermal pads ? If so where on the pcb you would add tim and on what pads ?
[EDIT] I don't know whether you need to do this on XSPC blocks though. For EK blocks, EK recommend putting TIM on VRMs before putting thermal pad there.

Yes, I'm using TIM & thermal pads. I put very little TIM on the VRMs & put thermal pad on top of them. Some people like to put on both side of the thermal pad. Right now I use double stack 1mm thermal pads on VRM1 which means 2mm there. I personally don't recommend 2mm pad there, only for pro... hehe

Ambient (indoor) without aircond is 30+ Celsius 24/7. So, when overclock, both core & VRM1 will be in the 60s Celsius. I'll run some bench or games with aircond on to see what I get in cooler ambient.

Same here but difference between core & VRM1 on my cards are less than 10C.

A new problem just showed itself :S In the opening scene in the witcher 2 when the elf or whatever it is is getting chased through the woods, when you see the 2 guys running towards him and when the screen turns black the game freezes and I have to reboot the pc. Is this driver related or do I have a bad card? Running crossfire. Same thing happens in battlefield 4 after a while but never in any other game

Starting to consider selling these 2 and going 780ti :S Dont want to but soon it seems to be the only way frown.gif

If this is happening at stock clock, I think you should consider RMA them. I can tell you black screen also can happen if VRAM/memory running hot. Make sure VRAM/memory getting adequate cooling. I would try re-seat the cooler (if not using stock cooler) before RMA them.

Messy build I know, but im just holding out for Haswell-E and a 900D case and then i will take a bit of pride in the way it looks.

As for the VRM temps very similar to yours when adding voltage only maybe 1-2c higher than core. I'll give it +200mv when i can get the room cool enough to see how it goes.

It is at stock clock, have had problem with stutter when gpu-z had been open for awhile, might have been fixed, will check vrm temps

Have a custom fan profile that keeps the core below 85c though

Got and installed my Powercolor PCS+ 290 and wanted to share looks at the cooling especially. Pic flood inbound:

Intro:

Now on to the good stuff:

General look at cooler:

Vrm1:

Vrm2:

Thermal pad contact between heatsink and memory chips:

Looks pretty good, no? Havent tested it yet, right now its idling at 29c core, 24c vrm1, 25c vrm2, fan at 30%/1400rpm.

I don't worry whether my watercooling look pretty or not. My priority is performance, not aesthetic. Just make sure your radiator(s) get fresh air. Don't stack radiators because thermal performance will be poor.

I just benching my GPU's at +200mV (voltage max at 1.414V & 1.422V) in 34 - 36C ambient yesterday. tongue.gif Finally I got max stable clocks, passed OCCT stress test (15 minutes), at 1175/1600 MHz. I can bench 1200/1600 with +200mV but stable clock is 1175/1600.

Not VRM. I'm referring to VRAM. Overheat VRM can leads to throttling while overheat VRAM can leads to black screen.
