Well vrm (1) temps is something that concerns me alot .

At stock clocks , playing bf3 Mp after about 2 hours my vrm (1) temp was 90+ ºC ... ( this was some tests I've done last week before i ran into black screens)

Last night I tested some overclock again, and I used afterburner , set voltage and power to 100 , and I put the core at 1150 .
With Vsync on , the card never passed 64 ºC on the core. Played about 1h30 , then I turned Vsync off and the core temp jumped to 83 ºC after about 1h..

Now,I am affraid to install Gpu-z to check the Vrm temps, because I was having black screens, and since i uninstalled Cpu-z and Gpu-z, the problem disappeared..

I have searched but still could not find any hints about these Digi+ things max temps...

Also I need some time to mess with AfterBurner, overclocking is very new to me..

My card is an asus 290x- DcII.

Let me guess, you have Elpdia memory... rolleyes.gif
download here: http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2326/asus-radeon-memoryinfo-1-005/

And forget about any programs like CPUZ or GPUZ or whatever to cause blackscreens.
The blackscreens are random, so you can never tell what causes it.

I changed cards 3 weeks ago and haven't seen a single BS since, while overclocking and running multiple programs.

I will check when i get home , thanks!

Regarding Black screens, i bought the card, and with Catalyst 13.12 or 14.1 I had Black screens, or screen tearing randomly, I went to the retailer and they Have done tests ( Valley it seems) and called me then after four days saying that they did not encountered any problem, and asked for my pc to test. They tested on win 7 x64 and then on my pc, more two days waiting, and nothing... they uninstalled asus Gpu tweak... ( forgot to mention early). I really dont know what happened, I also check the way they used the power cables from the psu on the card, everything the same.

And yes, I am not that convinced after reading that thread that this is software issue.. Need to test more..
In Portugal you simply cant return things.. I' am pissed , because the card was connected to my pc 6 hours at max , I recorded some videos and sent to them, and they said that they could replace this one with the Trix version, and after four days, called me saying that they did not encountered problems.

Received my 2nd Sapphire R9 290 tri-oc this morning.
Gpu-z shows for the 1st card 2560 shaders, 2nd card 2816.
Ordered the regular version but this shows that it is an x-version.
So very confused

Some of us 'blackscreeners' got our same cards returned after RMA. That's because the blackscreens occur randomly, like once a day or once a week and in testing that can easily be missed.

I had about 25 blackscreens in 2 months time and I am rather sure it's a hardware problem or hardware related (memory/temp).

I advice you to insist on replacing the card. You have Elpdia memory, but most cards with Elpdia are good. There's probably been a bad badge of memory modules. Elpdia claims there are counterfeit modules in the market.

If they offer you to get the Tri-X instead (which is on Hynix memory) grab that card out of their hands before they think twice biggrin.gif

Ran the card separately and gave 2560 shaders so bug in gpu-z then.

When ULPS enabled, which is enabled by default, it make GPU-Z to read wrong shaders value. Disable ULPS using MSI Afterburner v3 beta 18. After ULPS is disabled, GPU-Z will be able to detect correct shaders value.

Also, when ULPS is enabled, fans on 2nd card in Crossfire will not spin when idle (or when not running 3d apps that use Crossfire), at least this is true with reference card with reference cooler.

What sort of temps are people getting in crossfire? I benched Heaven 4.0 and my top card hit 93*C with the fans running over 60% ....... loud!! Bottom card was mid 80s. This is after just one 2 or 3 minute run benching Heaven 4.0!

I'm using two Asus R9 290 DirectCU II.

Also what PSU's are people running these on? Currently running them on an XFX 750w Pro series but my power monitor shows about 650w (peaked at 720w after 10 min for FurMark) being drawn form the wall. I'm looking at replacing it with an 850w ... but should I stretch to 1000W?

Not so fast wink.gif It blackscreens now on stock voltage, but with +20% overclock on Memory?!

I haven't even tried 1500 Memory. I run it now stock voltage 1100/1400/130% Power

My temps Core 75 C and VRM1 under 85 . So, I'm happy gamer biggrin.gif

Think your card's just fine thumb.gif
