When you're at 1440/1600, AA is hurting your performance more than it's making a noticeable difference in how things look. Personally, I would turn down the res scale and AA to get better frames. 50 for 1 card as you claimed is more than acceptable by a lot of people's standards.

Not many people here run their CPU/GPU at stock settings. BF4 takes advantage of CPU, and RAM Overclocking more than just about any other game out presently. A mild overclock for CPU, RAM, and 2 cards would yield some pretty good, if not great, performance gains.

You must have a high tolerance for noise! One card at anything over 55% was beyond unacceptable for me. But I'm used to the silence of my water cooling so I'm slightly spoiled I suppose.

the 1600p res 200scale is for 3x 290. ultra settings 4x msaa. card really works alot but plays well

as for noise, i am using headphone so it doesnt bother me at all and like i said if i set my ap182 fans, high pitch noise frm 290 dis appears. i could only hear the woosh sound from my case ap182 fan

oh one more thing, 3 290 noise is not same as 1 290 x 3. if single 290 has a 40 dcb noise, it does not mean 3 290s will be 120 dcb. you may not believe me but that is what my experience. would u believe that 2x 290 is almost same noise as 3 290s .......

It is till considerably louder than one, and I wouldn't call it quiet by any stretch. It's not an annoying loud, just the sound of fans.

The artifacting was very mild actually, just sprinkles of tiny blue squares here and there every few frames, but Far Cry 3 for sure will crash on this.

Temps are tolerable. Core and vrm2 are great no matter what I do, it's just vrm1 as always. But a lot of guys could live with 90c vrm1 I guess. I personally like to stay in the 70s.

Ah one more question: do you guys disable CCC? I had problems running that alongside Trixx or AB with my 280x. Not having any issues so far but I was curious.

Incidentally Trixx gets me slightly higher scores at the same clocks than AB. DIfference is small but noticeable, and it happens consistently. Does that make any sense at all?

heh doing what I was doing ey? yea GCN is a very tolerant architecture, a lot of 7970s could be taken as high as 1400 on the core with good cooling (~1.4V, stable), just that in this case the reference power delivery isn't quite able to keep up for the most part, the lightning of the 7970s was the best for high overclocks really and I think this is going to be the same case on the 290/Xs.

I think trixx may do some extra little things like reducing the throttle aggression which can improve the performance too, something afterburner wouldn't likely have due to being designed for a vast range of both AMD and nvidia hardware...

Got my 2nd Sapphire Tri_Oc yesterday. saw in the AMD catalyst control center that my gpus have different bios versions.
Should this be better with both same bios version. had a few blue screens yesterday but think they got to do with the software.

Take this with the newest release date.

I have tried everything with these cards. It really disappoints me to say it but my last cards were Nvidia and my next ones will be Nvidia no matter the price difference.

2x MSI R9290 on water running at 42deg and pretty much every game I have gives me less frames in Crossfire then with a single card. In Valley they almost double their performance from a single card yet every game I play either won't run Crossfire at all, crashes or gets several frames lower than running just a single card.

I'm stumped and disappointed frown.gif.
