Temps are tolerable. Core and vrm2 are great no matter what I do, it's just vrm1 as always. But a lot of guys could live with 90c vrm1 I guess. I personally like to stay in the 70s.
Ah one more question: do you guys disable CCC? I had problems running that alongside Trixx or AB with my 280x. Not having any issues so far but I was curious.
Incidentally Trixx gets me slightly higher scores at the same clocks than AB. DIfference is small but noticeable, and it happens consistently. Does that make any sense at all?
Your core speed of 1230 is exactly where I started getting artifacting in Valley before I went under water, and I suspect it is due to VRM temps because I did end up with 1260 as best core speed for Valley. Try backing your core speed down 5-10 and see if you can squeeze some more out of the memory. Some benches/games don't rely on RAM speed as much, especially with enormous 512-bit bus. However, I did check in my testing using my best core speeds while keeping memory clock at stock.
Here's the break down:
- Heaven: 6.86% decrease in score
- Valley: 8.72% decrease in score
- 3DMark11 Performance Run: 1.98% decrease in score
- 3DMark11 Xtreme Run: 3.72% Decrease in score
- FFXIV Benchmark: 4.47% Decrease in score
I'm with you for VRM1 temps; I believe they're rated for 120C though, if I recall correctly? Before I had all my fans on my radiators my VRM1 temps were maxing at 79, which was the same as the stock blower! I was slightly baffled at this until I got all 6 fans in and the system was completely bled of air.
I have also been pondering a theory that my front rad fans are so close to the GPU and the VRM1 that the air they are blowing across the back of card and under/over the backplate is lowering VRM1 temps....I'm going to test this now!
If your VRM2 temps are still in check why not try to push the memory a little more? This is OCN afterall
What do you mean by disable CCC? I don't have OverDrive enabled in CCC. Only thing I use it for is to force tesselation off to see how much can be squeezed out of certain benchmarks.
Difference from AB to Trixx? Hard to say really...Did you have ULPS disabled with AB? Does AB have force constant voltage option? A smidge of voltage can make a difference in a score. Plausible that it was getting enough volts not to have issues, but that little extra helped keep frames up thus slightly increasing your score.
