Yeah, just different recommendations per manufacturer.

I asked chiknnwatrmln if he used TIM for his VRM pads and he said no. Will be an equal comparison between EK and XSPC blocks when I put the Fujipoly on mine thumb.gif

So yeah, i don't know what i was thinking but i loaded 14.1 drivers and the ONLY thing that worked was star swarm in "mantle" mode.

Hahaha, every game/benchmark i tried crashed with BSOD's. Yeah, so umm back to 13.12 ..............

Hey all

I recently got 2 R9 290's, to Powercolor PCS+ ones. Wonderful cards, very quiet. I did a quick write up in this forum for anyone interested.

Anyway, I was only testing the one card, so today I got around to plugging in the second one - it appears to be a 290X. It has more shaders than the other one (2816 vs 2560)

Also the second hard says it has a bus width of 32 bit - which I seriously doubt. I ran Firestrike - it scored mid 15K points while there have been no issues with crossfire and the 2 cards seem to be playing nicely together. Only now MSI afterburner cant read the data off either card (temp, core clock etc)

Do you guys think there may be an Issue with that second card?

Also Id like to join the club - Validation

I'm liking those PCS+ cards, they look pretty nice and from all reports actually manage to keep it fairly cool.

One thing though, Are they a 2 slot or a 2.5 slot card by chance?

When you enable/disable crossfire you might need to close down Afterburner then start it again.

And disable ULPS in AB as well, that causes GPU-Z to read the shaders, clocks, mem bus etc wrong on your second card smile.gif

2.5 slots Im afraid.

Temps on the top card went from 61C stock to 78C in Crossfire. Looks like my G10s and Kraken x40's wont be wasted after all. It may in fact be a good candidate as it comes with VRM heat sinks, a backplate and another plate that covers the RAM modules (which are both Hynix BTW)

Thanks for the Heads up with MSI AB and ULPS done. Problem Solved, both reading correctly as 290's now.

No problem smile.gif

I don't have an issue with 2.5 slots, handy info to have though, cheers

Yea 2.5 slots was fine for me, I bought my motherboard with the possibility of that in mind.

I have tried a bit of overclocking, one gets to 1150 - past that it artefacts while the other gets to slightly less. It is based off the reference PCB, but I cant tell if it has better components.

The price was a steal - $530 from PC case gear. Could believe it was only $30 more than reference, especially compared to the ASUS and Gigabyte models too. So I snapped up immediately.
