Fixed the power limit and bang, crash.

I'll have to give it a try. All my OC has been done with +50. I just figured it could use as much as possible when pushing the card to the brink.

That's what I've done as well. Might try lower and see what happens also. I've never heard any reason for why lower would be more stable, unless the power delivery system couldn't handle the load for some reason, but unless it throttled at 25% the power should be the same.

Anyway, I saw your temps decrease a lot Roboyto, that's good.

Yes they did. With my more mild settings of 1255/1675 +125mV, core and VRM1 temps are now pretty much identical in the mid-upper 40s. Big improvement from VRM1 normally being 20C higher than core temp. On a few of my runs core temp was up 1-3C...Not sure if this is attributed to the lower VRM1 temps or there being a smidge of air left in the loop as I was anxious to get to results. It ran all day and there's not a single air bubble or gurgle sound so I might have to rerun the tests just to make sure.

Gunderman456 should have the Fujipoly Extreme 11 W/mk pads in a day or two to install on his EK blocks. Between your temps, mine, and his we should be able to find a trend in performance for the Fujipoly pads. Plus it will be nice to see in the Ultra Extreme are worth their premium price tag.

Do you think adding the Fujipoly ultra extreme on the VRMs could take the place of more rads for multi gpu setup? Adding another gpu to my setup for 3 way, possibly 4 later on. However I don't have enough space to accommodate extra rads other than maybe a 240mm. If I replace the pads, you think it would work without getting much hotter?

Aux volt +25 lets me get to 1220 core, without it I max at 1200, on AB.

the power draw is likely creating extra vdroop on the memory, allowing +25 memory voltage to make it stable again.

You really can't compare those two. Better thermal transfer takes heat away from a localized area like the VRMs and distributes it throughout the loop, raising the average loop temperature. A radiator helps dissipate some of this heat from the loop to the environment. So the two work hand in hand and don't really replace each other.

If anything, you'll need more rad space by adding the pads. It's not the pads cooling the vrms, it's just allowing heat to transfer to your block more efficiently... which in turn will transfer more heat through your rads...

Hmm ok thanks for the info. I'll have to see how much I can add with my current config.

So i got some 290s on the way and if i get lucky im going to try and unlock them to 290xs. Id guess this would void the warranty so if for some reason in the future i had to RMA the card can i flash the bios back and lock it back to a 290 before sending it in?
