Can someone explain to me it seems like overall i was achieving better FPS from my 2x 670 cards apposed to my new 290's? I feel it might be CPU related as some areas of BF4 I'm getting like 50 - 60's regardless of whether I'm ultra setting or low???

Also it seems that the CPU is working ALOT harder all of sudden - like now loading BF4 I'm getting short bursts where CPU load is 100% and the mouse freezes up for a 2nd etc.

Could it be that's these cards and drawing so much more of the CPU just to be in use???

Get windows 8.1 and Mantle Driver! Should clear all this up.

How much rad space you working with; What does your loop consist of?

This is my rig. I have CPU and GPU in the loop with a 180 mm rad.

BF4 is very CPU dependent and will utilize whatever # of cores you have available to throw at it. I doubt a 4670k would be bottlenecking even 2 of these beasts, what clock you running?

That green looks sweeeeeet! thumb.gif Especially with that Sniper board. What case is that?

If you only have the 280 then you are definitely lacking in the radiator department. As rdr09 said, at least, an additional 120/140 to bring temps in check. If you wanna join the cool lachen.gif kids club, pun fully intended, than a 240 as you said will get your temps where you want to be.

I have all my fans daisy chained off one fan header, running in silent mode through Thermal Radar, with (2) XSPC EX240s. My top 240 using thin 20mm Yate Loon in push, and the front 240 in push/pull with Corsair SP120 HP. Temperatures are solid with worst bench temps for CPU @ 55, GPU Core/VRM1 peaking @ 52, and VRM2 peaking @ 42. Gaming load CPU/GPU/VRM1 Mid 40s.

The more I think about it, yeah, this is pretty beastly cooling, because it's on clocks of 1170/1500. I've seen the Tri X achieve better temps across the board but that's at stock, I don't know how it does with a +75 vddc offset and 1170 core on a 947 reference. But I have a Tri-X on the way so I'll see soon enough.

I have to agree with rdr09 with keeping heatsinks on the VRMs.

Biggest question is how is/are the VRM sink(s) attached presently? That will play a big role in how you go about upgrading. I'm having trouble locating a picture of the PCS+ without the cooler on it to see what's going on under the hood.

I don't want to void warranty so I can't take the cooler off but here are some closeups of the cooling design for the PCS+ 290.

Vrm2:

Now the one spot where I'd like to improve, vrm1:

Can't really see how it's attached. Just glued on?

I wondered if it was something I should worry about but performance is rocksolid, it's just glue that slopped right? Purely cosmetic? Looks awful tho lol. Good thing it's on the mobo side.

That's a G1 Sniper M5 Matx in a Prodigy MITX. I modded it to have the board horizontaly to see the graphic card. If I was able to fit a Matx board in a Mitx case , I am sure I can fit a 240 on top under my Koolance shroud.
