At a rough guess, boot in safe mode, uninstall graphics drivers in device manager, maybe run a driver cleaner, and reboot.

Does it make much difference using windows 8.1 pro over windows 7 ultimate? Apparently you get DX11.2 with win8 but do any games support it yet and is it worth the upgrade?

DIRECTX 11.2 which brings a host of new features to improve performance in your games and graphics app. The DIRECTX 11.2 offers HLSL shader linking, Inbox HLSL compiler, GPU overlay support, DirectX tiled resources, and more. Bring new levels of visual realism to gaming on the PC and get top-notch performance.

FYI, there is function here called "edit" where you can just edit your earlier post.

To answer to your question, yes as alot of people if not alot of test finds that windows 8.1 does have improvement over windows 7. But not really that much. What gamers really dont like is the metro apps/overlay. I do however use windows 8.1, For no particular reason, I just got used to it already

14.2 d3d11 is actually the best BY FAR lol

Mantle is awful still. My Fps is slightly higher but my lows are way lower. It's a stuttery mess where as the d3d11 version with 14.2 is incredibly smooth and my fps is very high and way more consistent. I went to a single spot in the center of Firestorm and hung out for a sec. On the catwalk right in the middle facing towards all the smoke and fire. With mantle on I get around 115fps but with d3d11 I get 168fps lol.

I'll peg the 200fps cap in a lot of places in that same map with mantle but it will go under 80fps and always feels like 30fps. The fog is definitely gone the game looks the same in mantle and d3d11. My highs aren't consistently as high in d3d11 but the lows never go under 130fps. Lamesauce Mantle!!!

1440p, ultra with msaa and all turned up, fov 90 etc...

Ah well, still going back to 13.12

Have had a similar experience, dx11 is running butter smooth on 14.2 and mantle runs like a car without gas. Having 100+fps and not many dipps into high 80s with dx11 and with mantle it goes down to 80ish fps and dipps to high 60s.
Atleast they have fixed something biggrin.gif

And cant for the life of me get Thief to run crossfire, it just wont frown.gif Tried enabling crossfire for stuff that doesnt have a profile and ULPS is disabled.

Noticed another thing, 55C idle temps blinksmiley.gif

You gotta keep in mind that Mantle wasnt targeted at i7 and 290 owners, but the APUs or lower end CPUs (It'll also help FX CPU bottlenecks) and GPUs. And this is common knowledge.

So idk why you're complaining, its not like you need the boost Mantle has to offer when you have 3 290s.

It's not about what you "need" biggrin.gif Some just want as high fps as possible biggrin.gif I dont even need a 2nd 290 ^^ But I got one anyway because I wanted more performance biggrin.gif
