I was hitting 66-69c after a run of Valley @ 1250 / 1500, +150mv, now with the pads I'm seeing around 47c. Very happy!

Took me lot longer to install though because my new rotary fitting I installed started leaking *sigh* luckily I caught it right away, but it caused me to have to drain my loop all over again... what a pain. I will be doing further testing tonight smile.gif

Another successful upgrade! :thumbsups

For all my testing I've done since the upgrade, VRM1 is usually within ~5C of the core depending on clocks/volts.

I needed to change my reservoir because my was all cracked and jackedup; check my build log if you want to see a res on the brink of disaster. Installed pump in new res, tied everything up, and started filling.  I never had a leak at the res before so I was being cocky, and didn't lay down any towels or anything...BIG mistake lol   Water ran down all over my front fans, onto the GPU and in between the backplate, then continued rolling down along the GPU and spilling onto my PSU.  Luckily, we don't leak test with the PSU giving power to everything! All ended well, but it was a lesson learned.

I see you have a Raystorm, ever consider letting your CPU run around naked?  :) http://www.overclock.net/t/1468701/xspc-raystorm-naked-ivy-haswell-mounting-no-additional-hardware

Nice build! Almost bought that same case, but decided on the 350D.

Alrighty guys, had some time to reinstall 13.12 and test 14.2. Can you guys compare your results with mine?

Settings:

And results:

First, 14.2

13.12

13.12 again after warming the GPU a bit more

I use Trixx personally. Disable the apply on boot setting, but let Trixx load with Windows.  If you need to overclock it's not hard to enable a saved profile.  Make sure you disable ULPS and force constant voltage, these will help with stability and to keep frame rates consistent.

Get rid of those 14.X drivers, they hav been nothing but problems.  Make sure your scrub with DDU. http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/display_driver_uninstaller_download.html

You don't NEED Mantle to play BF4 with one of these cards.

Disable AMD Overdrive.

Interesting, has forcing constant voltage helped with your OC stability? I always left it unchecked but this has piqued my interest as maybe something I have been overlooking this whole time thinking.gif

Absolutely! I've always used Trixx since my HD4890 and have been using that function for as long as I can remember.

Great, I will have to try it very soon. On the list for this weekend.

-Add waterblock to my 290x #3 and test OC
-Test 290x #4 at stock and OC limits
-Replace XSPC stock thermal pads with fujipoly ultra extreme
-Try out 14.2
and now -Try constant voltage for OC

with a lot of 290/X crossfire setups being CPU-bound, has anyone actually tested a setup with i5s, i7s and an FX-8350 to see the differences? I'm very curious if having 8 "dedicated" cores over hyperthreading really helps at all or if FX suffers the same bottleneck...

edit; oh not including the Unigine benches though, those are single-thread...

In BF3 and BF4 on my old 2600k triple 7970 rig I swapped out to an 8350 for about a month. I lost fps everywhere in every game but definitely my average went down quite a bit in the BF series. I got more fps with two 7970's and a 2600k @ 4.2ghz than three 7970's and my 8350 @ 4.8ghz lol.
