Was gaming, everything fine, and then system made a loud screeching sound and screen went blue with a WHEA_INCORRECTIBLE error.

Now the gpu is idling at 33c core, 26c vrm1, 27c vrm2.

At current ambient, gpu up til now idles at 28-29c core, 18-19c vrms.

Checked the card and nothing seems wrong physically. But even leaving it off for a while, temps are not going down to where they used to be.

Any insight? Did something I can't see past the heatsink explode lol?

might want to check your PSU voltages, did it sound like a choke or more mechanical? could be your pump acting up...

oh wait you're air cooled, those are pretty good temps for air, but check your fan RPMs?

If you get "triple serial" instead, you'll need "EK-FC Terminal BLANK Serial". The backplate is optional but if you can afford, get one because it provide passive cooling.

I got the backplates also, however the slot I purchased is a different one, I do not plan on going more than 2 cards so it should suffice. http://www.frozencpu.com/products/23384/ex-blc-1685/EK_Terminal_Block_-_Dual_Serial_3-Slot_-_Black_Acetal_EK-FC_Terminal_DUAL_Serial_3-Slot.html

Reason I went 3 slot is because I have a rampage iv black edition board.

That terminal won't work for you. You need Triple Serial Terminal.

The Dual Serial 3-Slot only suitable if PCIe slots are configured like this:-

Carefully compare the above PCIe slots configuration with RIV Black Edition:-

They don't match.

The EK-FC Terminal Triple Serial will match with your RIV Black Edition:-

Scratching my head still, at idle this gpu is pretty much at ambient for vrms and a degree or two higher for core, has been ever since I got it. Now it's idling at 3-4 degrees above ambient. DIfference is so small it could be nothing. But because it happened right after that screeching noise I'm all paranoid. Maybe it's just hot air build up in my case since I was gaming a few hours? Hope so. PSU voltages are the same as they were I think, all those numbers hover around a bit so it's hard to say.

I'm upset my cpu crashed mad.gif Been running rocksolid at 4.7, 1.275v since October, first WHEA error since I finalized my settings. I'm not going to spend days again trying to tweak those settings and running tests, so I guess I have to downlock to 4.6. mad.gifmad.gif

Seems my post was deleted O.o

Anyways, frozencpu had no problem swapping it out, took them less than 5 mins. One question however, first one you linked me was a parallel one, the second was a serial, is there any difference worth mentioning or none at all?
